Featuring Minimalist and Timeless Aesthetic Appeal
The partnership between Lapalma and Mario Ferrarini goes ahead with a good wind behind it. That crisp air that appeared to give momentum to the interplay of dynamic appeal and stability of the Cross stool, designed by Mario Ferrarini for the company in 2022, now seems to sculpt the fluid and generous shapes of the HAWI chair, one of the new products that Lapalma is presenting at the next Salone del Mobile Milano.
What remains of the former design project is the large diameter tubular frame (28 mm), which seamlessly continues into the seat, making it totally ergonomic. In the new design concept, however, this detail goes further to join to a tapered backrest. Its creation was inspired by the skilful manual sanding of wood: a basic cylindrical section led to a refined and very thin surface, which is also harmonious and smooth. Its unique and distinctive elliptical design ensures greater comfort when sitting and bears in mind the different heights and positions of its users.
Featuring minimalist and timeless aesthetic appeal, in keeping with other offerings in the Lapalma catalogue, HAWI has an interesting twist in the striking contrast between the sturdy frame and the graceful backrest that, although seamlessly joined to it, becomes lighter as it extends.
Stackable, it is exceptionally versatile, suiting various tastes and types of use.
The version combining an injection-moulded plastic backrest and seat can be used indoors and outdoors, giving a nod to the contract world – from hotels to restaurants & cafes – also due to its balanced pricing.
Presented by Coulisse | INK
The HAWI chair is also available in a plywood version, reminiscent of Nordic design and collections by Lapalma, where wood from FSC-certified forests echoes the ancient tradition of cabinet-making. And for those who want the ultimate in comfort, Lapalma offers a version with a padded and upholstered seat, ready to blend in with elegant interiors.
All the components can be easily disassembled and therefore recycled, with sustainability guiding Lapalma’s choices and actions.
Sturdy yet light, cosy and fluid in design like a bay sculpted by the wind, HAWI accompanies us from one season to the next, reflecting friendly and joyful conviviality.
