For cocktail enthusiasts, time to elevate your drinking journey with The Slow Roots at Artesian, The Langham, Jakarta — a new cocktail experience inspired by the richness of Indonesian soil, the rhythm of the seasons, and a more thoughtful approach to modern mixology.

Perched high above Jakarta’s skyline, Artesian introduces a cocktail programme that goes beyond the glass, transforming local ingredients, craftsmanship, and sustainability into a refined sensory experience. Guided by the philosophy “What grows together, pours together,” The Slow Roots unfolds through four evocative chapters — Soil, Sprout, Bloom, and Harvest — each reflecting stages of growth interpreted through Indonesian botanicals and produce.

Earthy ingredients such as ubi ungu, singkong, temulawak, and beetroot anchor the Soil chapter, while Sprout explores fresher expressions through kelor, pandan, sereh, and andaliman. Floral layers emerge in Bloom with bunga pala, melati, kemboja, and tea, before Harvest celebrates tropical abundance through coconut, banana, durian, and nangka.

Presented by Magran Living
The cocktails themselves blur the lines between culinary experimentation and contemporary mixology. Unexpected elements including Pandan & Parmesan Cream, Satay Sauce Distillate, MSG Giffard Crème de Cacao White, and Banana Skin Shrub introduce playful complexity without losing harmony. Alongside these innovations are reimagined Indonesian-inspired signatures such as the Tempe Martini, Pie Susu Old Fashioned, Pala Negroni, and Kecombrang Margarita — drinks that feel rooted in memory yet distinctly modern.

The Slow Roots reflects a growing global movement in cocktail culture: a return to provenance, seasonality, and conscious craftsmanship. Every detail has been considered with intention, from menus printed on organic paper to bespoke coasters handcrafted through upcycled coffee waste in collaboration with Liberty Society, empowering marginalised women across Indonesia.

The programme also deepens Artesian’s connection to local agriculture through partnerships with YUM Organic Farm and Kebun Mama Organic, while the bar’s own botanical garden on the hotel’s 65th floor supplies fresh pandan, moringa, and lemongrass directly into the cocktails. Selected drinks from the collection also contribute 1% of proceeds to support YUM Organic’s community and nutrition initiatives.

Visually, the experience is accompanied by whimsical illustrations from Indonesian artist Erianto, whose poetic works echo the spirit of the cocktails themselves — nostalgic yet contemporary, playful yet contemplative.

The Slow Roots at Artesian invites guests to slow down, rediscover Indonesia’s rich ingredients through a contemporary lens, and experience a new expression of cocktail culture where every sip celebrates the flavours and soul of Nusantara.
