Celebrate Chinese New Year

Greeting the Chinese New Year, we bid farewell to the year of the bashful rabbit and welcome a new era of brave, live dragons. Some of the world’s top watch manufacturers have created a limited edition Lunar New Year watch to commemorate the occasion, incorporating dragon themes as well as traditional Chinese colors and symbols!

Count down to the Lunar New Year with S&C‘s standout selection of “time” items.

Chopard
Chopard has released an 88-piece limited edition of the L.U.C XP Urushi Year of the Dragon, an artisanal expression of luck and prosperity, marking the Chinese zodiac cycle. The dragon, the earliest creature in Chinese myths and legends, represents imperial authority, wealth, fertility, and auspiciousness. The new Year of the Dragon starts on February 10th, 2024. The watch is inspired by the legend of the legendary first Emperor of China, Huangdi, who incorporated various creatures in his coat of arms. The watch features a 39.5 mm ethical 18-carat rose gold case and an in-house L.U.C 96.17-L caliber with a micro-rotor, ensuring a slender profile of just 6.80 mm. The dial is a piece of art, decorated with Urushi lacquer, gold powder, and mother-of-pearl inlays. The dial has been hand-crafted in Japan by a world-renowned artisan specializing in the Maki-e technique for the 12th year in the Chopard Urushi story.

TAG Heur
Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has released two limited edition watches for the Lunar New Year 2024, honoring the Year of the Dragon. The watches merge Chinese cultural richness with TAG Heuer‘s racing DNA, embodying tradition and innovation. The Chinese Dragon, a supernatural being with benevolent powers, has symbolized imperial strength and unity for thousands of years. It holds a special place in Chinese culture and embodies values like power and charisma, which align with TAG Heuer‘s spirit. The watches are crafted in rose gold and steel, paying homage to Chinese culture and the success embodied by the Chinese Dragon. The steel version features a sunray – brushed silver dial, while the rose gold version has a sunray-brushed 18K 5N rose gold-plated dial. The distinct red “azuré” subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock add a captivating contrast to the dial, mirroring the emblematic reverse panda design. A special box was designed to house the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, Year of the Dragon, in the same profound red color as the watch, elevated with the Chinese Dragon symbol in an elegant beige.
