HERMÈS ARCEAU CHEVAL NATTÉ: WHERE SILK MEETS THE ART OF WATCHMAKING

The Dial Made from Almost 400 Individually Placed Silk Threads
Hermès has never treated watchmaking as an isolated discipline. With the new Arceau Cheval Natté, the maison once again turns the watch dial into a canvas for its métiers d’art—this time translating silk craftsmanship, equestrian heritage and contemporary design into a remarkably tactile composition.

Created in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, the Arceau remains unmistakably Hermès, defined by its rounded case, asymmetric stirrup-inspired lugs and quietly elegant proportions. Here, however, the dial takes centre stage. Tong Ren’s geometric horse motif, originally conceived for Hermès home accessories, is reconstructed from nearly 400 individually placed silk threads, creating texture, movement and an almost three-dimensional relief.

The composition is further refined with champlevé engraving and 123 diamonds, framed by a 38mm rose-gold case set with another 70 diamonds. Two interpretations—one luminous and vibrant, the other darker in black, red and brown—give the motif distinctly different personalities.

Inside, the Manufacture Hermès H1912 self-winding movement delivers a 50-hour power reserve and 4Hz frequency, visible through a sapphire case-back decorated with Hermès’ signature sprinkling of Hs.

Limited to just 24 pieces per version, the Cheval Natté makes silk the protagonist, redefining what a watch can be when craftsmanship and imagination take centre stage.
