Unveiled at the 2000 Milan Furniture Fair, the LEM stool, designed by Shin & Tomoko Azumi for Lapalma, has become an enduring symbol of minimalist design. Since then, LEM stool has been regarded as an iconic stool because of its revolutionary design.

To mark its 25th anniversary, Lapalma introduces 3 new galvanic finishes—brushed black, blue, and green—expanding its already extensive range while preserving its refined identity.

“We believe in design that lasts,” says Romano Marcato, Lapalma’s co-founder. “LEM is not just functional but a timeless statement, proven by 25 years of success.”

A staple in prestigious projects such as BMW Museum Munich, Schiphol Airport, the Library of Birmingham, and Google HQ Japan, LEM was also acquired in 2008 by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Its seamless construction, once a technical challenge, now takes just 50 seconds to shape, reinforcing its legacy despite countless imitations.

LEM’s new finishes will debut at Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone in Milan’s 5Vie district at Lapalma for Architects – SPACETIME, celebrating design that transcends trends.
