The Palatine Collection and Roche Bobois’ Accessories

Roche-Bobois collaborated with Christophe Delcourt to explore the relationship between wood and stone, specifically walnut and travertine. Walnut provides a luxurious structure, while travertine adds the beauty of imperfection. Palatine, a table, a sideboard, and seating, pay tribute to Italy’s inspirational palaces, classic and contemporary architecture, and the beautiful details that catch the light.

Christophe Delcourt

“We have been working with Christophe for 20 years. He stands out for his innovative use of raw materials and sculptural shapes, his artisanal approach to design, the unique classicism that suffuses his projects, and the warm sensuality expressed in his work. He also has a flair for rooting. pieces in their era, while ensuring they stand the test of time. We believe this enduring quality is more important than ever, and as manufacturers, we feel it is a factor worth highlighting and taking into consideration ”  – Nicolas Roche –

Christophe Delcourt, a self-taught designer, gained fame in the 1990s for his artisanal metal ornaments. Inspired by the arts, he founded the Delcourt Collection 30 years ago, entrusting production to traditional workshops. In 2002, he collaborated with Roche Bobois on the Rive Droite Collection, known for its clean lines and elegance. In 2005, he created the Legend bookcase, a tree-inspired piece made from sustainably managed forests, without metal pieces or solvents. This eco-design approach inspired Roche Bobois to develop an innovative assessment tool, which remains in use today. This ongoing creative synergy between the designer and the brand continues to thrive.

PALATINE table de repas/dining table
design Christophe Delcourt

The dining table features a medium-density fiberboard top with Canaletto walnut veneer and solid walnut edging, a two-leg base, and a solid Roman travertine insert, with a stained, varnished finish.

PALATINE buffet/sideboard
design Christophe Delcourt

The four-door sideboard features a medium-density fiberboard with Canaletto walnut veneer and interior shelves, with a stained finish and matte varnish, and a Roman travertine top, legs, and insert.

Christophe Delcourt has created a table base with two semi-cylindrical pillars made of travertine, connected by solid walnut bars. The bases support a slightly rounded top in walnut with a subtle stain and refined veining. A concave travertine insert adds poetic detail. The sideboard is a quadrangular piece with softened edges, combining a walnut veneer facade with a travertine top. The designer repeats the decorative stone detail in double legs and flush doors. In these two pieces, the dining table and sideboard have strong lines that express a gentle sensuality, instilling solid materials with a time-worn effect.
