Getting Comfy Never Looked So Good
Some chairs are made for sitting. Others seem to encourage you to stay a little longer. Designed by Monica Förster Design Studio for Paola Lenti, Lazy Chair brings together a laid-back silhouette, tactile materials, and a thoughtful approach to design. In 2026, the chair moved outdoors, extending its distinctive character into a new setting.

At the heart of Lazy Chair is an interplay between structure and softness. A loose seat pad partially covers the seat, leaving the handwoven cord underneath visible. The elastic weave naturally responds to the body, while also becoming one of the chair’s most defining visual details.

“In my projects, I always try to combine form, function, emotion and narrative. I do so with the desire to give a poetic soul to the objects I design. I find this same idea of poetry in Paola Lenti products. I like to think that this is what truly unites us,” says Monica Förster.
That shared sense of poetry carries across both the indoor and outdoor versions, with each adapted through materials and finishes suited to its surroundings. For the outdoor edition, Corda Rope Mélange—one of Paola Lenti’s exclusive materials—is handwoven over a structure of sassafras wood and steel. The result pairs an elastic support with the distinctive texture of handwoven cord.

The seat pad simply rests on top and can be upholstered in the collection’s outdoor fabrics, offering plenty of possibilities for colour and material combinations. By the pool, on a terrace or veranda, Lazy Chair brings an informal touch to outdoor spaces, while its relaxed character also works naturally in hotel and resort lounges and other hospitality settings.
Indoors, the mood shifts through a warmer mix of textures and materials. The solid sassafras wood structure reveals the handwoven suspension beneath the seat pad, while Ruffle Indoor, Paola Lenti’s soft wool bouclé, adds another tactile layer. Its deliberately irregular weave highlights the handcrafted quality of the piece.

Across both versions, Lazy Chair reflects Paola Lenti’s long-standing exploration of materials and craftsmanship. Structure and softness come together in a piece that feels considered yet unforced, designed to work just as naturally in private interiors as it does in more social settings.

Founded in 1994, Paola Lenti is known for its distinctive approach to colour, materials, and textile innovation. Over the years, the company has developed a wide collection of exclusive fabrics and technical materials for indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as architectural applications, available across a broad spectrum of colours.
