The Opening Gala of Paris Opera’s 2026/27 Dance Season
When couture moves beyond the runway, it becomes an art of movement. At the Paris Opera’s 2026/27 Dance Season Opening Gala, CHANEL brings its couture savoir-faire to the ballet stage, reaffirming a century-long dialogue between fashion, choreography and artistic excellence.

This year’s programme features Rings of Saturn, Juliano Nunes’ first creation for the Paris Opera, with costumes designed by CHANEL, alongside Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Vers un pays sage and Aszure Barton’s Busk, both making their debut in the Opera’s repertoire. The Gala also marks the second appearance of the Junior Ballet, established in 2024, whose dancers will perform in tutus designed by the House.

CHANEL’s contribution extends to the Ballet’s traditional Défilé du Ballet, providing tutus and tiaras for the Étoiles. The partnership reflects shared values of artistic rigour, inclusion and nurturing the next generation of talent.

The relationship traces back to 1924, when Gabrielle Chanel designed costumes for Le Train Bleu, followed by George Balanchine’s Apollon Musagète in 1928 and Léonide Massine’s Bacchanale in 1939. Today, the House continues this legacy through collaborations with contemporary and classical choreographers, bringing its distinctive savoir-faire to the stage.

The partnership underscores CHANEL’s enduring belief that fashion and dance share a common language: the pursuit of movement, precision and artistic expression.

The Opening Gala brought together celebrities, ballet enthusiasts and members of the cultural community for an evening celebrating artistic excellence and the enduring alliance between fashion and choreography.
