Stainless Steel Meets Natural Stone
Abimis presents a new edition of the AlterEgo sideboard, now featuring doors in Cipollino marble. Previewing at Salone del Mobile.Milano | EuroCucina 2026, the piece brings together the precision of stainless steel craftsmanship with the expressive beauty of natural stone.

Designed by Alberto Torsello, AlterEgo was originally conceived as an extension of the Ego kitchen. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetic language of 1950s design, the sideboard translates these references into a versatile storage element that expands compositional possibilities in both residential and contract settings.
Now available with doors in Cipollino marble as well as other natural stones, AlterEgo expands its material palette alongside versions in a variety of wood finishes. Each configuration is paired with a structure entirely made of stainless steel, either orbitally polished by hand or finished with mirror polishing. The combination reflects Abimis’ technical expertise while allowing the sideboard to integrate naturally into open-plan kitchens and living spaces as both a functional storage piece and a refined design element.

A defining feature of the sideboard is its bevelled flush doors with pivot hinges, framed by an AISI 304 stainless steel structure with a recessed plinth. This detail recalls the formal language of the Ego kitchen line, reinforcing the stylistic continuity between the two pieces. The circular stainless steel handles serve as a distinctive signature of the project, turning functional components into subtle decorative accents.
The introduction of Cipollino marble doors further emphasises the sideboard’s sculptural quality. The marble’s natural veining creates a dynamic three-dimensional effect that interacts with the surrounding space, ensuring each AlterEgo piece remains unique while giving the design a distinct sculptural presence.

AlterEgo reflects Abimis’ production approach, where meticulous craftsmanship meets industrial precision. Designed to complement the Ego kitchen, the sideboard can also stand comfortably on its own, defined by its material richness and distinctive presence.
