FRANQ: a new language for the contemporary bathroom.
FRANQ by Altherr Désile – the new bathroom collection by NOORTH presented as an absolute preview at Salone Internazionale del Bagno 2026 – takes shape from the meeting of two complementary visions: he extension of domestic comfort into the bathroom, conceived in continuity with the other spaces of the home; and a reinterpretation of the storage unit, which evolves from a neutral element into an expressive presence, capable of defining the character and identity of the space. The result is a collection that dresses the home with natural authority, transforming everyday use into an experience.

The formal language of Franq is inspired by the sober, timeless elegance of Jean-Michel Frank, a key figure in 20th-century French design, known for his formal rigor and a vision of luxury that is never ostentatious. Solid, composed volumes, carefully calibrated proportions and essential geometries guide the concept behind the new collection. The lines are disciplined, the gestures controlled; the surfaces convey a sense of stability and calm, restoring to the bathroom an almost architectural dimension, at once intimate and reassuring.

The imagery accompanying the collection is cinematic and cultivated. An instinctive gesture, such as Marlene Dietrich placing her handbag on an armchair in Desire, embodies an idea of innate elegance, never constructed. As do the sinuous lines of 1930s porcelain plates resting on freshly starched tablecloths in a restaurant lined with wooden boiserie. Suggestions that speak of balance, materiality and duration.

Materiality plays a central role in the project: the warmth of wood, the undisputed protagonist of the collection; the silky surface of Milltek, a synthetic composite chosen for basins and countertops; and the depth of lacquered finishes, developed in a sophisticated color palette, all contribute to defining a bathroom environment that goes beyond the idea of a purely functional space.

With Franq, NOORTH continues its exploration of an essential aesthetic for the contemporary bathroom: proportion, materiality and timeless elegance.
