An Extraordinary Installation by Piero Lissoni

@ Living Divani Gallery
Corso Monforte 20
20122 Milan

On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2023 Living Divani Gallery presents an extraordinary installation by Piero Lissoni, an expression of creativity that tells the story of the Company in an unreleased way, through an unexpected stylistic mix. The windows on Corso Monforte and Via Visconti di Modrone transport visitors into a place with a strong identity that once again refers to a theatrical setting and invites to enter and discover the proposals of the new 2023 Collection.

Antithetic Aesthetic is a contrast of colors, materials, lights and shapes, dominated by a ceiling and walls that multiply and amplify reflections. Through outstanding and striking showcases, Living Divani celebrates 25 years of an evergreen product, Piero Lissoni‘s Metro2 sofa, accompanied by the Oolong wing chairs- always designed by the Architect- characterized by a timeless look and measuredly organic shape.

All the elements are upholstered for the occasion in special fabrics, specifically identified and selected for the realization of this evocative staging project, and are not part of the Living Divani collection: pure virgin wool, a material commonly used in the field of high-end fashion, declined in this case in furniture, and in mirror fabrics with bright colors, characterized by irregular plays of chiaroscuro that are accentuated with the processing.

“Living Divani Gallery is a kaleidoscopic space, carrying multiple meanings to interact with different creative and stimulating realities, widly open on the world of design and the arts. This is an opportunity to show our reality in a narrative and poetic interpretation, with a pop reference, and to experience it through new revelatory codes, mixing traditional products with different fabrics and colours comparing to the ones we are used to” – says Carola Bestetti, CEO of Living Divani.

“The installation mixes mirrored surfaces, steel sheets and luminous neon in a play of reflections and lights that wants to surprise in a corner of Milan that is always on the move. In the windows, some “soft” products covered in ecological fur made from natural yarns alternate with models covered with mirrored fabrics in a contrast between cold, smooth surfaces and warm, comfortable materials that disorients the viewer.” comments Piero Lissoni, Art Director.

An experiential path with a “strong and new flavor ” that comes into harmony with the exhibition areas of the Milan showroom, the place where the Company displays not only design products, but also conceptual and artistic proposals declined in different disciplines.

A skylight reminiscent of a secret garden dominates the area dedicated to the outdoors, where Piero Lissoni‘s strongly feminine-looking Tombolo armchairs, refined in their details and carefully embroidered, dialogue with the Kasbah modular sofa by David Lopez Quincoces, with a relaxed and informal style, defined by a solid Teak Burma wood base and modules on which rest inviting cushions, paired with the homonymous coffee tables.

A setting of Filo Outdoor sofa and armchairs -always by Piero Lissoni– characterized by a tubular steel frame that supports the exposed Iroko wood shell, topped with soft, welcoming cushions dialogues with Islands Low Table by Stephen Burks with a HPL top and a perimeter of pivoting slats. Next to them, the Wedge table, by Arik Levy, is a strong, sculptural presence inspired by the lightness of origami, surrounded by David Lopez Quincoces‘ George’s chairs, characterized by pure and discreet lines.

Continuing the path to the lower floor, one finds a first ambience completely dedicated to the sleeping area, where protagonist is the new Sumo bed by Piero Lissoni with headrest mechanism adjustable to various positions, interpreting the attitudes and rituals of bodies and minds. Completing its functionality and comfort are the ERA bed side table by David Lopez Quincoces, with a sophisticated touch and Pebble vanity, by Lanzavecchia + Way, object inspired by the materiality and organic form of stones, simple in design but complex in its details, at the sides, while at the foot of the bed is the new version of the Sumo bench.

The atmosphere is completed by Piero Lissoni‘s Clan family, which welcomes a new sofa, flanked by the armchairs in the Piccola version to create an intimate and reserved area, sublimated by the presence on the wall of Alvea, the new triangular console in carabottino designed by Marco Lavit.

Along the corridor, large green plants accompany to the next areas of the showroom where, on the wall, is featured the new Paradigma mirror by Marco Lavit inspired by the Vitruvian grid: a round top accommodates four guiding axes along which it is possible to insert wooden accessories that complete its functionality. A first dining room is gathered around the Brasilia table by David Lopez Quincoces, a design that rejects the right angle, replacing it with a free and smooth curvature inspired by nature, surrounded by the Era chairs by the same designer. David Lopez Quincoces‘s Sailor bookcase completes the room, with a refined sign that highlights a handcrafted tailoring where the airy step of the hexagonal-section uprights contrasts with the tighter rhythm of the shelves. Significant element is Railway by Giacomo Moor, the new storage unit that alternates open parts with closed compartments: it is the result of a path of research to achieve perfect parallelism between the shelves and manage the encounter between uprights and rails. Conceived in two different heights: in the lower version it can be a storage unit or TV cabinet, in the two-level version a sideboard serving a dining area.

Wide and spacious the living area relates two important upholstery families: the iconic Extrasoft, a bestseller signed by Piero Lissoni, enriched by the new wooden storage modules in 2 heights and 3 sizes that follow the pace, change the rhythm and multiply the functionality of the sofa, and the Sumo seatings by Piero Lissoni with a pure and rigorous line accompanied by the homonymous coffee table. Completing the setting the Moon Coffee Table by Mist-o in their three variants Full Moon, Moon Eclipse and Moon Satellite, accompanied by the Pebble low tables, by Lanzavecchia + Way fluid silhouette moving in space and the Lemni armchair, by Marco Lavit, a colorful, statuesque accent, flanked by Keiji Takeuchi‘s Light with a Table.

Elegant and harmonious, Floyd-Hi 2 sofa by Piero Lissoni shows the particularity of the armrest and backrest cushions inserted between the frame and the seating, accompanied by the Ark armchairs by David Lopez Quincoces, novelties for 2023, are sculptural elements, defined by a simple and pure line. Wood, vehicle of expressiveness, is worked and curved to create a dynamic yet harmonious shape with timeless appealing, playing in contrast with the metal rod legs. A piece of furniture that catches the eye for its unconventional shape is Kigi by Junpei & Iori Tamaki, a complement capable of enhancing the peculiarities of each individual material of which it is made.

Concluding the space is a reserved area furnished with the Graft table by David Lopez Quincoces in the square version, paired with Ticino chairs by Shibuleru.

Living Divani Gallery is a showroom with contemporary appeal and suggestive soul that tells the story of living spaces with sober and essential languages in which individual elements can be imagined in their own living environment, but also a distinctive and particular place where new energies and new worlds enter the scene from time to time.
