Where Luxury Finds its Freedom

At The Langham Fashion Soirée 2026, Sebastian Gunawan and Cristina Panarese’s SEBASTIANred turns the liberated spirit of the 1920s into a contemporary wardrobe of 56 looks—where tailoring meets fluidity, and glamour feels effortlessly free.

Inspired by Victor Margueritte’s 1922 novel La Garçonne, SEBASTIANred’s 2026/2027 collection begins with a woman who refuses to remain defined by betrayal or convention. Her departure becomes an act of self-determination—a narrative that, a century later, still resonates.

LA GARÇONNE collection lies in how Sebastian Gunawan and Cristina Panarese translate the era’s spirit of emancipation into contemporary luxury. The corset gives way to silhouettes that move; masculine tailoring encounters fluid drapery; structure is softened by lace, sequins and layered textures. The result is glamour liberated from heaviness.

Louise Brooks and Clara Bow (two iconic silent film actresses) further shape the collection’s idea of modern femininity: two contrasting yet complementary expressions of confidence, sensuality and independence. Here, femininity and masculinity are not opposites but a dialogue—one that gives the collection its distinctive tension.

A disciplined palette of black and white, punctuated by decisive flashes of red, reinforces the narrative. Intricate embroidery, delicate lace, shimmering sequins and artisanal embellishment bring richness, while precise construction and controlled proportions keep the 56 looks from becoming overly ornate.

Rather than treating luxury as excess, SEBASTIANred makes it feel lighter, freer and more effortless. The craftsmanship remains meticulous, but the clothes appear liberated from the need to prove it.

The collaboration with Le Ciel, which created exclusive earrings, necklaces and handcrafted beaded bags, completes the proposition: accessories conceived not simply as finishing touches, but as extensions of a woman’s individuality.

With LA GARÇONNE, SEBASTIANred gives that freedom a modern vocabulary—precise yet fluid, powerful yet feminine, and above all, unapologetically her own.
