A Celebration of Creative Vision, Collectible Design and Exceptional Savoir-Faire

Celebrating seven years of artistic collaboration, Louis Vuitton brings together 14 artists, original artworks and collectible handbags in a compelling exploration of art, design and craftsmanship at Art Basel Paris 2026.

Louis Vuitton brings the artistic universe of Artycapucines to the forefront of Art Basel Paris 2026, presenting a retrospective at the Grand Palais from October 23–25. The exhibition celebrates seven years of creative collaboration, revealing how the House’s iconic Capucines bag has evolved into a canvas for contemporary artistic expression.

Since its debut in 2019, Artycapucines has invited artists to reinterpret the bag through their distinctive visual languages, working alongside Louis Vuitton’s artisans to translate original concepts into exceptional leather creations. From Alex Israel’s vibrant colours and Urs Fischer’s playful motifs to Liza Lou’s intricate beadwork and Tschabalala Self’s layered compositions, each piece blurs the boundaries between fashion, art and collectible design.

The retrospective also highlights collaborations with Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama and the late Frank Gehry, whose imaginative approaches to colour, pattern and form have helped shape Louis Vuitton’s creative identity. A new collection dedicated to Keith Haring adds another dimension, translating the artist’s instantly recognisable figures and graphic symbols into collectible handbags. It is presented alongside a vintage Louis Vuitton suitcase signed by Haring in the 1980s.

Extending beyond the handbags themselves, the exhibition’s scenography draws inspiration from archival storage and fine-art transportation. Open crates, brushed-aluminium plinths and trunk-like structures reference Louis Vuitton’s origins as a trunk-maker, connecting its heritage of craftsmanship with its enduring engagement with the arts.

With roots in artistic collaborations dating back to 1920, Louis Vuitton continues to position design as a meeting point between creative vision and artisanal expertise. At Art Basel Paris 2026, Artycapucines stands as a testament to this evolving dialogue, transforming an iconic accessory into a collectible expression of contemporary art.
