Generational Change at Wittmann

Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten enters a new era as Alice Wittmann, the great-great-granddaughter of founder Franz Wittmann, assumes the role of managing director, marking a significant generational transition for the Austrian heritage brand.

Announced on 5 February 2026, following the departure of CEO Bo Thuesen, the leadership change signals a renewed commitment to craftsmanship, design excellence, and long-term independence in an increasingly competitive global market.

Having previously overseen the company’s product division and contributed extensively to its marketing strategy, Alice Wittmann now takes full responsibility for marketing, product development, and sales.

Her strategic direction emphasizes a return to Wittmann’s core strengths: masterful craftsmanship, enduring design language, and uncompromising product quality. Alongside strengthening relationships with specialist retailers, the company plans to expand its contract business, catering to hospitality and large-scale interior projects worldwide.

At the same time, Wittmann will intensify its digital presence, aiming to engage more closely with architects and interior designers globally—an essential move as professional sourcing increasingly shifts online.

The objective, Wittmann explains, is not merely growth, but relevance. “Our goal is to consistently develop the Wittmann brand so it remains meaningful for both existing and future generations,” she notes, underscoring the importance of reliable partnerships and the enduring power of a well-established brand.
