Crafting Tomorrow, Rising Ideas
The Design Blender curatorial duo showcases a new collection of companies and creatives, transforming spaces into shared labs for experimentation and exploration of material, form, and innovation.

LABÒ is launching its third edition in the former industrial spaces of Fondazione Rodolfo Ferrari and SPA – Società Prodotti Antibiotici in Milan’s Barona District. The event, from 6 April to 11 April 2025, featured a selection of international designers, artists, and companies, curated by Elsa Lemarignier and François Leblanc di Cicilia.

By combining method and intuition, rigor, and experimentation, LABÒ investigates how design can be a catalyst for change and research. The 2025 edition’s theme, “Crafting Tomorrow, Rising Ideas”, honors the power of design to spark novel connections, provide fresh viewpoints, and encourage artistic experimentation.

“This third edition of LABÒ is a celebration of design as an act of transformation. We want to explore the power of creativity in generating impact and shaping a better future,” explains The Design Blender.

This year’s vision is brought to life through a renewed collaboration with Paris-based studio Undo-Redo, led by Nicola Aguzzi, who translates the event’s concept into a site-specific installation at LABÒ.

The installation, Perpetuum Mobile, reimagines textile machinery as a hypnotic artwork. It was designed in collaboration with Vimar1991, an Italian company that Chanel acquired in 2020 as manufacturing excellence to be preserved and enhanced for the creation of the finest yarns used in the iconic tweeds. The piece examines the thin boundary between artistic expression and industrial production by turning the machines that wind yarn into hanks.

Made from production waste, Vimar 1991’s yarns reinforce themes of innovation and sustainability. Perpetuum Mobile transforms traditional craftsmanship into a modern, immersive experience by capturing the poetry of movement and mechanics.

Furthermore, the key partnership continues with EDIT Napoli curators Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petruccelli. This collaboration unites two realities sharing the same mission: to promote contemporary design through an innovative and multidisciplinary vision. Within the LABÒ spaces, the winners of EDIT Napoli 2024 showcased: Parasite 2.0 x Bianco67 and Atelier Nuanda, which interpret design as an expression of research and material culture.

Leading personalities from the modern design scene are featured in the third edition of the international design exhibition LABÒ. Prominent organizations will take part as creative and innovative incubators, including Ateliers de Paris (BDMMA) and Le JAD – Jardin des Métiers d’Art et du Design. The historic French institution Mobilier National displayed projects that combine modern and traditional design. The Star Homes Project, an affordable, cozy, and long-lasting insect-proof home intended to enhance rural communities’ health, will be unveiled by the Royal Danish Academy, a distinguished research and educational organization. To enhance living conditions, the project, which is headed by an interdisciplinary team of entomologists, public health experts, and architects, integrates innovative interventions in a single residence. For more than a decade, the Star Homes Project has been under development led by Jakob Knudsen and Lorenz von Seidlein, Salum Mshamu.

With more than 35 participants, LABÒ is a center for experimentation and exchange that promotes interdisciplinary influences and a range of design viewpoints. It links the public, businesses, and creatives while offering insights into the changing stories of design.
