The Exclusive Afternoon Tea Celebrates Indonesia’s Independence Month
Famed for its meaningful curated artistic collaborations, The Drawing Room at The St. Regis Jakarta continues its creative journey this August with Kanvas Rasa: Indonesia in Ink & Sugar. Presented in collaboration with acclaimed contemporary artist Eddy Susanto, the exclusive afternoon tea celebrates Indonesia’s Independence Month through a refined dialogue between art, culture, and gastronomy. Eddy Susanto is also the artist behind the iconic mural at The St. Regis Bar Jakarta.

Inspired by Susanto’s Sembilan Mata Hari Centhini—a contemporary interpretation of the revered Serat Centhini—Executive Pastry Chef Kevin Lee transforms Indonesia’s culinary heritage into an elegant selection of sweet and savory creations, each serving as an edible canvas of the archipelago’s rich traditions.

The savory selection features Lemper Ayam Bakar, Otak Otak, Sosis Solo, Tauge Goreng, Tahu Isi Udang, and Daging Serundeng. Among the highlights is the delectable Lemper Ayam Bakar, where charred sticky rice envelops tender pulled chicken infused with Indonesian spices, alongside the delicate Sosis Solo, a petite crepe filled with fragrant spiced chicken and shredded coconut.

Equally captivating, the sweet creations include Srikaya Brioche, Bika Ambon Honey Cake, Kacang Hijau Croquembouche, Kemanggi Strawberry, Dadar Gulung, and the striking Aksara Merdeka Lapis Legit. The latter is beautifully adorned with edible white chocolate printed with traditional aksara characters, while the irresistible Srikaya Brioche pairs soft buttery brioche with luscious kaya cream beneath a glossy pandan glaze.
