Titik Dua, Ubud, Bali: February 7 – March 16, 2025

Titik Dua proudly announces the rehabilitation of the historic W Barwa Gallery, transforming it into a vibrant cultural hub that honors its rich legacy while opening new possibilities for Ubud’s community, marking an exciting new chapter for the creative scene.

Founded in the 1960s by renowned painter and visionary W Barwa, the gallery is the first and only art space in Peliatan, Ubud. It fosters young talent, hosts international exhibitions, and positions Balinese artistry on the global stage.

Titik Dua has carefully preserved the original building structure, paying homage to W Barwa’s groundbreaking contributions. The reimagined space features an indoor theater and expanded facilities, balancing heritage with modernity to inspire collaboration, innovation, and creativity.

A Visionary Opening: Andra Matin’s ‘Proses’ Exhibition
The inaugural exhibition, Proses by renowned architect Andra Matin alongside Byo Living, opens on February 7 and will show until March 16. Known for his ability to merge tradition with innovation, Matin’s work sets the tone for this transformative project, offering a glimpse into the future of Titik Dua’s rehabilitated space. Through his architectural explorations, Proses reflects a narrative of tropicality, creativity, and sustainable design—an inspiring prelude to the gallery’s new vision.

Tropicality: A Celebration of Visionary Design
On February 8, Titik Dua will host the Bali launch of Tropicality: Houses by Andra Matin, the architect’s first monograph, published by Thames & Hudson. This book celebrates Matin’s groundbreaking residential projects, showcasing 16 tropical homes designed over the past two decades. Through exquisite craftsmanship and innovative approaches to indoor-outdoor living, Matin redefines tropical architecture in harmony with the environment.

The book’s previous launches in Jakarta, Singapore, Australia, and Kuala Lumpur have highlighted its significance as an essential contribution to architectural discourse. Now, Bali audiences will experience this landmark publication firsthand.

“For Andra, the houses in this book serve not as mere containers and backdrops for life, but rather as expressions of values drawn from the most intimate planes of existence,” writes Lyndon Neri, co-founder of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, in the book’s foreword.

Transforming Titik Dua: A Collective Vision
The rehabilitation of Titik Dua is more than an architectural project; it’s a commitment to fostering artistic growth and collaboration within Ubud’s vibrant creative community. The extension of the space will serve as a cornerstone, providing a versatile platform for performances, film screenings, and community events.

“We trust Andra Matin’s vision to make this groundbreaking project a reality. His magic touch will breathe new life into the gallery while keeping its soul intact,” said Fonny Makatita, General Manager of Titik Dua. “Our goal is to create a positive movement within Ubud’s creative scene, opening doors to collaborations and fostering artistic growth.”
