Take a Seat and Relax

With the start of the cold season, everything revolves around creating a comfy and cosy atmosphere at home. Upholstered armchairs and other inviting pieces of seating furniture have a special place in the ClassiCon product portfolio. From the legendary Bibendum Armchair by Eileen Gray (1926) to the iconic Odin Sofa by Konstantin Grcic (2005) and the popular Euvira Lounge Chair by Jader Almeida (2015): each individual design offers a particularly comfortable seating experience while remaining a manifestation of the Munich-based company’s passion for exceptional classic and contemporary designs.

The Bibendum Armchair by Eileen Gray (1926): a humorous statement
The Bibendum Armchair is the epitome of a timeless classic. Its opulent design is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the distinctive shape of the Michelin Tyre Man from the advert – known as “Bibendum” in French. Despite the chair’s opulence and generous dimensions, it exudes elegance and subtle charm. The tubular steel frame lends the club chair a notion of lightness and stylish nonchalance. Like no other, the Bibendum Armchair displays its majestic effect as a single piece; in an ensemble featuring several pieces, it cuts a particularly fine figure in the contract sector. The popular armchair is available with a fabric or leather cover in various colours and with a chrome-plated or black lacquered frame.

The Chaos Chair by Konstantin Grcic (2001): a seating sculpture
Chaos Chair –  it is hardly surprising that this name refers to a piece of seating furniture that defies convention. Designed by Konstantin Grcic in 2001, the chair is characterised by its radical, angular shape. It has a slim profile while the proportions viewed from the front and back are generous. The unusual, pared-down shape lends the chair a cool and sculptural appearance. The Chaos Chair is available with a fabric or leather cover with countless colour options to choose from.

The Odin Sofa by Konstantin Grcic (2005): a place for communication
Four years after the creation of the Chaos Chair, Konstantin Grcic designed his first sofa: the Odin Sofa, which when standing in front of it, appears to welcome one with open arms. The high backrests embrace the seated persons, creating a feeling of tranquility and security. At the same time, this stylish sofa is a place for communication: the particular geometry of the seat allows two people to sit facing, rather than next to, each other. A modern interpretation of classic lounge furniture!

The Munich Lounge Chair by Sauerbruch Hutton (2012): a haven of calm
Originally created for the Brandhorst Museum in Munich, the Munich range of seating furniture, designed by Sauerbruch Hutton, is now an integral part of the ClassiCon portfolio. In addition to designing the museum, the Berlin architects were commissioned to develop furniture that would match the modern art on display while withstanding the demanding use in a public space. Together with ClassiCon, the furniture was further developed for serial production. Among other designs, the multi-piece range includes the Munich Lounge Chair, an upholstered armchair that gently embraces the seated person with its armrests. Designed for the museum’s lounge, the furniture invites visitors to linger and relax. The four slightly protruding wooden legs lend the armchair both formal and visual stability.
