From London Mayfair to Plaza Indonesia, a New Chapter Unfolds for the Historic Maison

Some signatures do not need to be seen to be recognised—a particular trail in the air, an unmistakable composition, a fragrance that becomes quietly associated with the person who wears it. For The House of Creed, this idea of signature has been at the heart of its story for generations. Now, that story continues in Jakarta with the opening of its first Indonesian boutique on the second level of Plaza Indonesia, bringing the Maison’s world of fine fragrance to one of the city’s most established luxury destinations.

The arrival was celebrated with a private grand opening event on July 17 at the new Creed Boutique on Level 2 of Plaza Indonesia, inviting friends of The House to discover Creed’s olfactory universe, from enduring icons such as Aventus and Silver Mountain Water to the richer, more opulent Oud Zarian. The gathering offered a closer look at the Maison’s distinctive approach to fragrance, shaped by a careful balance of character, craftsmanship and refinement.

Founded in 1760 on Conduit Street in London by James Henry Creed, the Maison began as a tailoring house serving British royalty and aristocracy. Over more than 265 years and seven generations, its exacting approach to craftsmanship has evolved from tailoring into fragrance, where the precision once applied to the cut of a garment now shapes each composition, bringing together the discipline of British tailoring and French savoir-faire.

At the heart of this philosophy is the Art of Millésime, a meticulous process that celebrates the quality and character of natural ingredients. Through privileged relationships with trusted producers, The House selects fine raw materials at their source, where each harvest is shaped by sunshine, rainfall and the rhythm of the seasons. Rather than seeking to erase these natural variations, Creed embraces them as part of each ingredient’s individual character, while maintaining the consistency that defines its fragrances.

Once selected, the ingredients are hand-weighed and carefully assembled at Creed’s atelier near the Château de Fontainebleau in France. Each batch is then matured and macerated in-house under the guidance of the Master Blender, where precision and patience come together to preserve the integrity and singular character of every fragrance.

This attention to detail is perhaps what connects Creed’s past and present most clearly. The Maison’s heritage is not treated as something static, but as a living practice—one that continues through the hands of artisans, the selection of exceptional materials and the patience required to create something that lasts.

In Jakarta, that philosophy now has a physical home at Plaza Indonesia, where visitors can explore Creed’s fragrance universe, from its most recognisable signatures to its more indulgent compositions. The boutique brings the Maison’s heritage into a contemporary setting, marking a new chapter in Creed’s journey from London Mayfair to Jakarta while staying true to the precision, patience and attention to detail that have shaped the House across generations.
