An Immersive Experience Installation

Italian furniture brand laCividina introduces Atrio Calmo, a spatial installation that explores atmosphere as the primary element of architectural space. Presented during Milan Design Week 2026, the installation unfolds as a hybrid environment suspended between indoors and outdoors, where materials, light, and proportions shape a calm and welcoming setting.

Curated by creative duo Barbieri Magalini and produced by creative consulting agency MM Company, Atrio Calmo reflects on atmosphere as a fundamental material of design. Rather than focusing solely on objects, the installation proposes a perceptual environment where spatial relationships, light, and textures guide the experience. The concept draws inspiration from the architectural typologies of Roman domus and Marrakech riads—intimate spaces where the atrium becomes a place of hospitality and quiet connection.

Within this setting, laCividina introduces a new upholstered furniture collection designed by Norm Architects, accompanied by a coffee table by Zanellato/Bortolotto. The modular seating system, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, reflects the restrained elegance of Nordic minimalism, with generous proportions that encourage relaxed postures and informal interaction while naturally shaping the surrounding space.

Materials and colour play a subtle yet defining role in shaping the installation’s atmosphere. A deep brown floor recalls the grounding presence of earth, while a straw-green accent introduces a natural graphic element. Architectural white surfaces frame the space, reflecting light and enhancing the calm sophistication that characterizes the installation.

More than a product presentation, Atrio Calmo expresses laCividina’s design philosophy—one that values perceptual quality, durability, and a meaningful relationship between furniture and the spaces people inhabit. Each element contributes to a cohesive narrative where design supports connection, comfort, and shared moments.

Visitors can experience the installation during Milan Design Week at the laCividina showroom inside Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda on Via Alessandro Manzoni in Milan.

Founded in 1976, laCividina continues to champion Italian craftsmanship while collaborating with internationally renowned designers. Through projects such as Atrio Calmo, the brand reaffirms its commitment to contemporary furniture that balances architectural clarity with a deeply human sense of comfort.
