MDW2025’S CASAORNELLA: MEDITERRANEA – ANDAMENTO LENTO

Casaornella, curated and directed by Maria Vittoria Paggini, returns to Milan Design Week with Mediterranea – Andamento Lento, a sensory exploration of contemporary living. This project transforms space into an immersive experience, capturing the Mediterranean’s rhythm, warmth, and timeless essence.

OPERATIVE KITCHEN

Located in Milan’s 5Vie district, Casaornella offers a retreat from urban life, serving as both a design laboratory and an interactive showcase. Paggini reimagines living spaces, elevating the bathroom and kitchen into focal points. The entrance features a water ritual with a Gio Ponti washbasin and Mamoli faucets, evoking Moroccan riads and ancient thermal traditions. The bathroom becomes a theatrical passage to the bedroom, where textured surfaces and warm hues create an intimate, dreamlike ambiance, centered around the Romeo bed, designed by Paggini for Softhouse Design.

OPERATIVE KITCHEN

The kitchen is divided into two contrasting concepts, both crafted by Turati Cucine. One integrates green mirrors and animalier wallpaper, complemented by marble and travertine, while the other, in deep blue, serves as a refined culinary workspace featuring Chef Niko Romito’s products and Quintessenza Ceramiche surfaces.

LIVING

Evolving into a permanent space, Casaornella is now a dynamic hub for architects and designers, fostering research, collaboration, and multidisciplinary dialogue. It hosts events, workshops, and talks, blending design with cultural discourse.

OPEN BATHROOM | SALA BANCHETTO

Design elements throughout the space create a rich interplay of geometry, color, and texture, from white-painted wooden floors and bold pop accents to sculptural furnishings and intricate ceiling frescoes. The Sala Convivio serves as the heart of this narrative, with a banquet table celebrating Mediterranean conviviality by day and transforming into a vibrant bar by night.

CREATIVE KITCHEN

Paggini also introduces Motel, a capsule collection for Softhouse Design, featuring sculptural, adaptable furniture with bold aesthetics. Casaornella stands as a living, evolving entity—an inspiring intersection of design, materiality, and storytelling, embracing the slow, deliberate rhythm of “Andamento Lento”.
