A Jewel-like Bathroom
On the occasion of the ‘‘Confidences pour confidences’’ exhibition held at the EquipHotel fair (3-7 November), Parc des expositions, Oscar Lucien Ono, founder of Maison Numéro 20 plays with the themes of intimacy and escape by designing ‘‘The Bath Salon’’ where space and time collide with intensity.
Maison Numéro 20’s founder has chosen to give a multisensory dimension to this 30-square-meter space, which visitors can experience both as a conversation lounge and a jewel-like bathroom.
In this shimmering world with the feel of an enchanted forest, Oscar Lucien Ono reinterprets the concept of well-being, skilfully blending artisanal craftsmanship and traditional know-how with innovative and sustainable technology.
Enclosed by glass panels decorated with gold and copper leaves – botanical motifs designed by Ulgador – two sofas, both intimate and open, upholstered in bronze velvet (Dedar) and enhanced with trimmings (Houlès), have been placed on either side of a central basin. This basin is accessorized with custom- made fixtures created by the Volevatch company, based on a design by Maison Numéro 20, where the interior architect and designer Raphaël Pontais envisioned a stylized feline.
Presented by Som Santoso
With a sculptural design, the basin was crafted using 3D printing technology from recycled plastic, in collaboration with the Spanish company Nagami. This innovative approach transforms waste into a valuable resource, turning each recycled plastic particle into a piece of art that seamlessly merges aesthetics with environmental responsibility. Using the same technique, Oscar Lucien Ono has imagined glass curtains that gently diffuse light, creating an elegant alcove that frames a bathtub.
Topping it off is a large, hand-painted metal wall sconce, custom-made by Art et Floritude like a piece of cloisonné artistry. The same atelier also crafted the delicate scrollwork light fixtures adorning the walls of the stand. True to his signature style, Oscar Lucien Ono plays with light and shadow effects, evoking mystery, sensuality, and a sense of escape at will. A mirrored ceiling heightens this atmosphere, reflecting every element of the décor, including the Kintsugi- patterned rug by Roche Bobois, specially woven by Galerie B.
From ancient baths that served as social spaces to the beautifully designed bathroom of Jeanne Lanvin, crafted in the 1920s by Armand-Albert Rateau, ‘‘The Bath Salon’’ is a welcoming place, rich with historical references. It remains true to the eclectic spirit of Oscar Lucien Ono, blending past inspirations with modern sensibilities.
