A Nostalgic Journey Inspired By A Bygone Era Of The East
Surrounded by Jakarta’s stunning skyscrapers, The Orient Jakarta, a brand new boutique hotel has opened its doors to guests from 29 September 2021. The Orient Jakarta, a 32-floor skyscraper on Sudirman street has 153 guest room (32 sqm to 265 sqm) designed by award-winning landscape architect and maximalist interior designer, Bill Bensley. The rooms take urban escapism to a new level. Each room whimsically adored with Bensley’s oversized batik patterns (with a pop art twist).

When Bill Bensley discovered a treasure trove of turn-of-the-century batik print records in a small Canggu antiques store, he knew it had to become the DNA for one of his projects. The traditional art of batik came alive with vibrant detail and intricate beauty on the many pages of these-hand-bound books. They were hand drawn and painted records of hundreds of batik patterns, collected by a Dutch trader who had developed batik wax cloth to sell in Europe.
