At Fuorisalone 2026, Tai Ping presents Floræ Folium Series, a new rug collection by French designer Sam Baron, marking the latest chapter in a creative collaboration that has spanned more than fifteen years.

Unveiled from April 20 at the brand’s Milan showroom in Piazza San Simpliciano, the collection expands on Floræ Folium, Baron’s 2022 experimental project that explored anamorphic floral compositions through an intricate palette of over one hundred colors. This new iteration evolves the concept into a series of ten rugs, translating botanical inspiration into layered, graphic compositions that shift in perception depending on distance and viewpoint.

Available in square, rectangular, and circular formats, the rugs are defined by softly articulated motifs—petals, pistils, and leaves—that unfold across the surface in varied arrangements, from centralized compositions to borders and all-over patterns. The designs reinterpret floral elements through a nuanced interplay of color, depth, and visual rhythm, creating a dynamic, almost cinematic effect.

Central to the collection is Baron’s painterly approach to color. His preparatory watercolors are meticulously translated into textile form by Tai Ping’s artisans, who calibrate gradients and tonal transitions with high precision. The rugs are crafted using a hand-finished tufting technique, with select areas enhanced by delicate stitched detailing—an innovation that introduces additional texture and relief.

The installation, conceived by Baron himself, transforms the Milan showroom into an artist’s studio. Sketches, drawings, and watercolors are displayed alongside the finished pieces, offering insight into the creative process behind the collection. Hung on walls like paintings, the rugs reinforce the dialogue between decorative arts and textile design showcasing Floræ Folium Series as both functional object and visual artwork.
