Color up the Holiday Season with Original Gift Ideas

On the occasion of the Holiday Season 2023, Seletti, the Italian design company known worldwide for its unconventional and original approach, imagines a selection of out-of-the-box gifts designed to give color and make everyday environments special.

Seletti‘s proposals underlineon the one hand well-established artistic paths with creatives such as Marcantonio with the novelties of the Kintsugi line and the lighting projects Window Lamp and My Tiny Moon, TOILETPAPER HOME with the Baroque Mirror, DIESEL LIVING WITH SELETTI with the Classics on Acid table complements, and Uto Balmoral with the abat-jour, mirror and vase from the Circus collection, on the other hand are expressions of new collaborations, which have given rise to new projects such as Meltdown by JORDANLUCA and ON-OFF by Tomas Schats.

CLASSICS ON ACID, glasses and porcelain plates – DIESEL LIVING with SELETTI

Classics on Acid is a collection of extravagant porcelain plates, proposed in different colorful types that irreverently reinterpret a classic style of porcelain table decoration, changing the rules of bon ton and embellishing lunches and dinners with a touch of madness.  Plate with different decorations, a series of coordinated bowls and a series of glasses follow the idea of the altered shapes evoking the surreal effect of psychedelia. Classics on Acid is the essential service for eclectics and wild party lovers.

MELTDOWN – design JORDANLUCA

The Meltdown collection is an out-of-the-box homage to British culture by JordanLuca, an Italian-English fashion design duo whose creations combine pop culture, contemporary art, and street culture. In their first collaboration with design brand Seletti, Jordan Bowene, and Luca Marchetto imagined novelties that unite two symbols of the United Kingdom: the traditional tea ritual and the wild culture associated with music festivals. Party psychedelia transforms the classic tea service form to give rise to surprising porcelain mugs, cups, saucers, trays, and teapots, whose unruly forms are embellished with a fine touch of gold.

WINDOW LAMP – design Marcantonio

Expressing the company’s ever-original approach to the theme of lighting, Marcantonio imagined Window Lamp, a product that, playing on the reversal of the perception of indoor and outdoor spaces, gives rise to a short-circuit of unexpected lighting. This luminous piece in the shape of an archetypal window – available in four different variations– breaks down the boundaries of space by creating the illusion of an opening to a blue sky dotted with white clouds, echoing one of the brand’s signature patterns. A state-of-the-art LED light in the white frame dreamily transforms rooms by bringing a bright sky indoors even in the dead of night.

Presented by LeChateau Living

Window Lamp harmoniously combines aesthetics and function. This is a lamp with a poetic character capable of creating corner spaces in any environment designed for relaxing, reflecting, dreaming or reading a book while imagining fantastic landscapes.

MY TINY MOON – design Marcantonio

Born as a large, sculptural, luminous moon slice to take the magic of the moonlight into the home, My Moon is transformed into a table version, concentrating the functionality of design and the visual power of art in smaller dimensions. Once again, it’s the kaleidoscopic natural world, in its immediacy and power, that inspires Marcantonio, whose artistic skills, functionality and a gaze that never renounces at fantasy and amazement blend in continuous research: My Tiny Moon, with its simple shapes capable of evoking an imagery common to adults and children alike, brings a touch of poetry and imagination to the most diverse environments.

ON-OFF – design Tomas Schats

Always looking for emerging creatives with whom to collaborate and cultivate rich artistic understandings, and thus offering visibility and prominence, the first collaboration of Seletti with Dutch illustrator-designer Tomas Schats – who shares an approach to fresh and playful design and art with the brand – ON-OFF is a lamp made of recycled cardboard which, with an eye towards sustainability, evokes the warmth of household light.

CIRCUS – design Uto Balmoral

Designer Uto Balmoral explores the vintage atmospheres of the circus world with Circus, a collection of objects that represents extravagant identities from the magic and wonder of the circus.

In Circus abat-jour, the lampshade becomes the circus tent, a theater for performances by Lucy, a Can Can dancer, Bruno, a strong man with a mustache, and Super Jimmy, a masked superhero who are all poised and ready to enter the scene and amaze audiences, an entrance created by raising a flap.

A circus performer is now performing a sympathetic act of strength. Trying to climb up to the surface to reach the highest end of the Circus mirror, he changes its volume by tilting the shining golden frame toward the center with all his might.

An engaging dancer now dances to a can-can rhythm and provokes the audience by playing with her wide red skirt. Between dances, she vigorously soars her leg upward, lifting the white Circus vase to the music.

BAROQUE MIRROR – SELETTI AND TOILETPAPER, TOILETPAPER HOME
Baroque Mirror is a new piece of TOILETPAPER HOME, the collection born of the union between Seletti and TOILETPAPER, the magazine signed by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari. Colorful and madcap mirrors with a Baroque flavor wears the surreal character of the magazine. The iconic graphics are now also enclosed in a beautiful golden Baroque-style frame, decorating walls with a provocative touch, transporting us through the mirror into a crazy and extraordinary environment.

KINTSUGI, Piggy Bank e Skull – design MARCANTONIO

After embellishing the homes of all design lovers with complements and accessories of the art de la table inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi – i.e., the technique by which porcelain is repaired using gold and thus transforming imperfections into unique and precious characteristics –, Seletti and Marcantonio‘s experimentation continues in the world of giftware, mixing this particular technique with some strongly recognizable elements like the skull and the piggy-moneybox.

Piggy Bank is a ceramic money box which ironically combines the features of the piggy with the sophisticated technique of kintsugi. The result is a playful product that defies expectations and, despite its destiny to be broken, conveys a sense of cheerfulness and lightheartedness with its smile, chubby cheeks, and cute ears. Piggy Bank is more than a simple moneybox, it’s a piece of art that manages to get a smile every time you look at it; the important thing is to have some change in your pocket to keep it smiling too!

Skull is instead an unexpected object with a pirate soul. The skull, symbol of transformation and evolution – often used with floral decorations in old school tattoo iconography, sends a touch of romance and mystery to the subject that, blending harmoniously with the golden cracks all over its surface, declares a new aesthetic of imperfections and pushes the boundaries of the traditional design.
