Craftsmanship, Culture, and Contemporary Outdoor Living
Blurring the line between indoor comfort and outdoor elegance, today’s design landscape redefines how we experience open-air living—from sunlit terraces to quiet garden corners, where furniture becomes an extension of lifestyle, atmosphere, and identity. Founded in Paris in 1960, Roche Bobois has long shaped this vision through its high-end collections and collaborations with leading designers and couture maisons, embodying a refined expression of French art de vivre.

At Milan Design Week 2026, the brand brings the outdoors into focus with a new collection that reimagines contemporary exterior living. Designed for terraces, gardens, and poolside settings, the collection reflects Roche Bobois’ commitment to savoir-faire, comfort, and an elevated design language shaped by both innovation and cultural dialogue.

Anchored by two distinct creative directions, the collection balances refined craftsmanship with expressive aesthetics. American designer Stephen Burks returns to collaborate with the brand, introducing Catalina—a sophisticated outdoor line that merges industrial design with artisanal techniques. Alongside this, Roche Bobois continues its vibrant partnership with Italian maison Missoni, resulting in Formentera, a bold and colorful seating collection that celebrates pattern, texture, and a spirited approach to outdoor living.

Presented by Magran Living

“At Roche Bobois, we are constantly striving to broaden our vision of design by embracing strong and unique creative sensibilities. Stephen Burks embodies this approach perfectly—his multicultural perspective and the attention he pays to craftsmanship bring a deeply human dimension to his creations,” notes Éric Amourdedieu, Group Executive Director, Roche Bobois.

The Catalina collection embodies a thoughtful dialogue between craftsmanship and modern production. Known for his collaborative work with artisans across the globe, Stephen Burks integrates traditional techniques—such as weaving and cord work—into contemporary furniture forms. Defined by soft curves, generous proportions, and material integrity, each piece is designed for durability without compromising on comfort or tactility. The use of sustainable and responsibly sourced materials further reinforces its relevance in today’s design landscape.

In contrast, Formentera embraces a more playful and expressive spirit. Designed in collaboration with Missoni, the modular seating system is dressed in the maison’s signature textiles, bringing vibrant patterns and rich color palettes into outdoor environments. The collection transforms exterior spaces into immersive lifestyle settings, where modularity meets visual dynamism, and every element—from rugs to sculptural tables—contributes to a cohesive yet energetic atmosphere.

Beyond aesthetics, the collection reflects Roche Bobois’ broader philosophy: design as a platform for cultural exchange. Stephen Burks’ multicultural perspective introduces a deeply human dimension, while the Missoni collaboration infuses a distinctly fashion-forward sensibility. Together, they position the 2026 outdoor collection not simply as a seasonal launch, but as a statement on how we live, gather, and experience spaces outdoors today.
