Enhances the Value of Local Artisans’ Work
Inaugurated in June of 2023, the luxury hotel Ritz-Carlton in Fukuoka (island of Kyushu, Japan) offers a breathtaking view over the Genkay Sea, the island of Shika, the Ohori Park, and the ultra-modern Tower, the symbol of Fukuoka.
Though distinguished by a strongly contemporary style, the interior design concept nonetheless enhances the value of the typical artisanal work of local craftsmen. In particular, it is distinguished by an interior decoration with the precious silk fabrics known as “Hakata-ori” and used as draperies and curtains. The furniture selected for the interior design, on the other hand, includes sofas, tables, side tables, chairs, and armchairs by Ritzwell, a brand from Fukuoka that is internationally renowned for the sophistication and quality design of its products.

In particular, Ritzwell’s models furnish the lounge and bar areas located on the top floors, wide and refined spaces that overlook the surrounding landscape through large glass windows.
On the 18th floor, in the conversation areas of the Lobby Lounge & Bar, the star is the JK COFFEE TABLE (designed by Jun Kamahara) – still a must after more than 20 years in production. Combined with a slender metal structure, the top in solid walnut wood with soft and fluctuating lines echoes the curves of the rounded roofs of sanctuaries in Japanese temples. The 24th floor of the hotel houses the Ritz-Carlton Club, open to all guests who stay in the rooms or Club suites. Here, maximum comfort in the relaxation areas is ensured by the DIANA sofas (design by Shinsaku Miyamoto), a highly elegant model full of personality with an enveloping design and connoted by large seating cushions and a solid wood structure matching the hues of the upholstery. Another lounge area defined by a spectacular backlit bookcase wall hosts the OS TABLE (design by Ritzwell) among its seating solutions – a side table that combines a solid top in walnut or oak wood with a tapered section and rounded edges with slender legs in varnished steel.
Also on the 24th floor, the Sunset Bar in the Bay Room provides guests with a spectacular view through the wide windows over Hakata Bay, which is animated by the many passing ships. This fascinating space, which is suspended between sky and sea, offers exquisite relaxation thanks to the BEATRIX HIGH BACK EASY CHAIR (design by Shinsaku Miyamoto), winner of the 2019 Red Dot Design Award. Extremely comfortable thanks to the wide rounded headrest and important ergonomic properties, BEATRIX is distinguished by its unique style and high manufacturing quality signed by Ritzwell.
