Design, Space, and Transformation
For many design brands, a milestone anniversary becomes a moment of reflection. For Rimadesio, turning seventy feels more expansive: an opportunity to reaffirm the values that have shaped its identity while continuing to evolve. In 2026, the Italian design company marks seven decades with BECOMING, a year-long, multi-act project that unfolds across design, art, architecture, and human connection—transforming a milestone into a living narrative of transformation.

Rather than dwelling on nostalgia, Rimadesio approaches its anniversary as an ongoing process of becoming. Conceived as the brand’s unifying concept throughout the year, BECOMING brings together a series of experiences that place memory and future, continuity and transformation, into dialogue. From evolving collections and artistic installations to immersive storytelling and architecture, the project reveals a vision still in motion.

At the center of this journey is the continued development of the Rimadesio collection by architect and art director Giuseppe Bavuso, whose collaboration with the company has helped define its visual language for more than three decades. Presented during Milan Design Week 2026 at the Rimadesio flagship on Via Visconti di Modrone, the collection evolves through new materials, finishes, furnishing systems, and interior solutions—continuing the brand’s dialogue between aesthetics, technology, and contemporary living.

For Bavuso, continuity has remained central to the relationship. Reflecting on more than three decades of collaboration, he describes design as “a tool for defining a clear and recognizable identity, capable of evolving without losing continuity”—a philosophy shaped through rigor, material quality, and technological innovation.

During Milan Design Week 2026, the narrative of BECOMING extends beyond product into experience. Rimadesio opens the doors of Palazzo Isimbardi to the public, transforming the historic venue into the heart of its anniversary celebration. Conceived by creative studio Juma, the exhibition translates the company’s evolution into an immersive visual language that bridges memory with future vision.

Inside the cloister courtyard, Swiss collective Encor Studio presents Aedes Memoriae, an installation exploring light, transparency, and transformation through glass. More than a sculptural gesture, the work invites visitors to reflect on time and perception, allowing memory itself to emerge gradually through space and material. Following Milan Design Week, the installation will continue its journey through Rimadesio’s flagship and monobrand spaces worldwide before eventually arriving at the company’s new campus in Giussano.

The narrative continues through the R-Paradigm immersive room, where imagery, sound, and moving visuals narrate Rimadesio’s evolution—from product innovation and technological advancement to global growth and architectural ambition. Together, the exhibition spaces feel less like a conventional showcase and more like an invitation into the ecosystem of a design house shaped by precision, consistency, and change.

Looking toward the future, one of the most significant chapters of BECOMING takes shape in Giussano, where Rimadesio is developing its new headquarters designed by ACPV ARCHITECTS, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. Created through the regeneration of an existing industrial site, the campus nearly doubles the scale of the company’s previous headquarters while introducing spaces dedicated not only to production, but also to culture, training, art, and well-being. Sustainability and landscape remain central to the vision, reconnecting architecture with biodiversity, people, and place.

Ultimately, BECOMING feels less like a celebration of what Rimadesio has achieved and more like a reflection on what it continues to become. For CEO Davide Malberti and CFO Luigi Malberti, the anniversary is both a moment of reflection and a way of looking ahead. “The 70th anniversary of Rimadesio is an opportunity to tell our story and who we are today, retracing the stages of our transformation and opening our gaze to the challenges ahead,” they explain. Through BECOMING, that vision takes shape in tangible ways—from evolving collections and immersive experiences to a future-facing campus—reflecting a belief in design as an experience continuously shaped through time.
