PRIYO OKTAVIANO: DOLAN — WHEN MENSWEAR LEARNS TO PLAY

Presented at the closing of Jogja Fashion Week 2026 in Yogyakarta, “Dolan” makes a quietly bold statement with his latest menswear. In choosing Jogja, Priyo places contemporary menswear within a city where culture, craft and creative experimentation naturally intersect.

Meaning “to play,” wander or go out for pleasure in Javanese, dolan becomes Priyo’s design strategy. Tailoring is loosened through oversized proportions, dropped shoulders, cocooning outerwear, asymmetric forms and relaxed shorts, while blazers and sweaters retain enough structure to move between formal and casual dressing.

Colour pushes the idea further—from sunflower yellow and lapis lazuli to forest green, gamboge, amaranth and sangria. Embroidery, hand stitching, piping, beads and faux pearls add exuberance, occasionally testing the boundary between expressive richness and visual excess.

The collection finds its strongest grounding in wastra. Handwoven Bugis tenun from Wajo, South Sulawesi, is integrated into contemporary silhouettes, while Kawung and Truntum motifs appear through repetitive embroidery. Priyo treats heritage motifs not as decoration, but as a living design vocabulary. That is where Dolan becomes most compelling: tradition is not preserved—it is played with, reshaped and made contemporary
