Evolving One Step After Another for Almost 100 Years

@Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023
MILANO RHO FAIR
HALL 7 / STAND D15-21; E14-18

At the next Salone del Mobile 2023, Porro continues to weave its own story about space, picking up the threads of a design thinking capable of evolving one step after another for almost 100 years, weaving apparently distant instances: architectural vision and fascination for the spirit of the place, pictorial sensitivity for matter and color and perfection of the technological detail, without ever forgetting the attention for the environment and the social reality that transversally runs through a new project, each time a precious opportunity for knowledge and discussion, each time different, intimately connected with its future inhabitants.

GamFratesi

Thin thicknesses, movement, transparencies and very clear essences distinguish the evolution of the systems, the main instrument for defining a grid that knows how to disappear when necessary, defining and articulating the space with freedom, while in the collections, furnishings with everyday functionality and concreteness, new classics that you’ll never want to part with, are accompanied by anything but ordinary objects with a disruptive character: distinct notes that together make up the chords of an ever-changing music.

Romby Armchair, design GamFratesi 2023
From the transformation of the Romby Chair designed by GamFratesi in 2010 and tiptoeing into the “manifesto” object of Porro design, capable of immediately narrating the geometric purity, manufacturing excellence and artisan flavor that define the brand, the new Romby Armchair is now designed for its all-comprehensive use, opening up new possibilities in the home office and contract. The shapes of the upholstered shell seem to blossom, they widen and rise to create the armrests, releasing an unexpected sensation of softness and naturalness, without losing the lightness and essentially of the original model. The truncated cone base leaves instead the field to the practicality of 4 central wooden legs, a sort of costume change with the visual effect of a full suspended upper volume that seems to take flight, in the name of hospitality and functionality.

Porro opens the doors of the new Milan showroom signed by Piero Lissoni, unveiling an interior articulated on several levels full of design possibilities, where to decline its architectural soul in unprecedented installations.

Architectural project/installation: Piero Lissoni.
New products: Piero Lissoni, GamFratesi, Alessandro Mendini.

In 2023, Porro disrupts established habits and changes “home”: the 20-year stay in the Milan showroom at Via Durini 15 comes to an end, and the brand moves to a new space with double visibility on the central Via Visconti di Modrone and the pedestrian Via Ronchetti, a brick, glass and metal building covered in ivy with a hidden glimpse of old Milan.

Architecture in dialogue with nature where the past is intertwined with contemporaneity, thanks to the project by architect Piero Lissoni, it offers an interior articulated on several levels full of design possibilities all to be explored: new challenges for Porro‘s sartorial ability to furnish tailor-made spaces with craftsmanship precision, declining its architectural soul in unprecedented installations.

Porro unveils the new address in a graphic and creative key inspired by Bruno Munari‘s famous book “Nella nebbia di Milano,” emphasizing the special bond with the designer who created the company’s logo in the 1960s and the fascination with the veiled and mysterious beauty of the Italian design capital.

With inauguration during FuoriSalone, in a work in progress construction site, it will host a mysterious and evocative project, in line with the imaginative installations with which Porro has enchanted the design public over the years, becoming a must-see stop in the itineraries of Milan Design Week.
