Vision of The Future Design
At Maison&Objet 2026, MUTATION sets the tone for a new era of design—where organic matter, craft traditions, and technological innovation intertwine. The theme explores how materials evolve and how creativity redefines the living relationship between nature and design.

Muriel Maire

Two artisans from Ateliers d’Art de France, Muriel Maire and Ana Montaya, embody this spirit. Maire, based in Brittany, creates poetic masks from plant fibers, driftwood, and dried flowers; while Montaya, in Marseille, assembles delicate collages of pods, eggshells, and silk cocoons. Both transform nature’s raw elements into tactile, dreamlike works that invite reflection and touch.

Meanwhile, Quentin Hirsinger, founder of materiO’, introduces the concept of “Translucidity”—a fusion of transformation and lucidity—spotlighting living materials like mycelium and pigment-producing bacteria as catalysts for sustainable design innovation.

Echoing this dialogue, Elaine Yan Ling Ng, founder of The Fabrick Lab and Women & Design award winner, continues the exploration at Maison&Objet Intérieurs Hong Kong (December 3–6, 2025). Her biomimetic textiles respond to natural cycles, merging technology with ecology in poetic harmony.
