A Celebration of The Rhythmic Stripe Designs
For Milan Design Week 2025, Finnish design house Marimekko collaborates with New York-based artist and culinary creative Laila Gohar on a whimsical, bedroom-inspired installation set in the grand foyer of Teatro Litta. Centered around an oversized bed, the immersive showcase explores the intimate rituals of rest, wrapped in Marimekko’s iconic bold stripes.

The installation, open from April 7 to 13, features a capsule collection curated by Gohar from Marimekko’s vast print archive—specifically the rhythmic stripe designs of artist Maija Isola. Stripes, a signature of the brand’s visual identity, are reimagined here in playful tones of sky blue, citrus yellow, plum, and berry red across pajama sets, sleep masks, bedding, and ceramics.

Presented by Le Chateau Living
For Gohar, the collaboration is deeply personal. “Growing up, my mother often dressed us in matching Marimekko stripes,” she recalls. Decades later, her return to the archive in Helsinki becomes a tactile journey through memory and form, resulting in a collection that bridges domestic comfort with expressive design.

“We are thrilled to partner with Laila on this capsule that captures her effortless art of living and Marimekko’s spirit of optimism,” says Creative Director Rebekka Bay. “Her mantra—‘if it’s ironed, you can wear it out’—led to pieces that move fluidly between the bedroom and beyond.”

At once nostalgic and forward-thinking, the Marimekko × Laila Gohar collection is a celebration of rest, rhythm, and the everyday as art.
