City of New Lights A Celebration of New Energy and Fresh Perspectives for Indonesian Fashion

Jakarta Fashion Week 2027 looks beyond the runway, bringing together emerging talent, Southeast Asian heritage and cross-industry collaboration to shape the future of Indonesian fashion.

Fashion’s future is shaped not only by new designs, but by the ideas, cultural identities and collaborations that move the industry forward. Embracing this vision, Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2027 was officially unveiled on 13 October 2026 under the theme City of New Lights, signalling a new chapter for Indonesian fashion through fresh perspectives, creative talent and greater global ambition.

Taking place from 26 October to 1 November 2026 at City Hall, Pondok Indah Mall 3, Jakarta, the upcoming edition will bring together 111 designers, industry professionals, media and creative communities. Its signature programmes—including Lomba Perancang Mode, Lomba Perancang Mode Menswear, Lomba Perancang Aksesori, Fashion Force Awards, Fashionlink, Dewi Luxe Market and Dewi Fashion Knights—underscore JFW’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent and connecting creative expression with commercial opportunities.

Beyond contemporary design, JFW 2027 places cultural heritage at the heart of fashion’s future. A key initiative is SEA WAVES, presented in collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism under the theme Two Expressions of Southeast Asian Heritage. Through textile installations and exhibitions, the initiative celebrates traditional craftsmanship and weaving across Southeast Asia, highlighting how textiles preserve history, identity and knowledge across generations.

The programme extends beyond the fashion-week venue. A textile installation at the National Museum of Indonesia, running from 26 October 2026 to 8 January 2027, will showcase textiles from 10 Southeast Asian countries, complemented by a kebaya presentation representing five countries. A SEA Fashion Parade is scheduled for 1 November, further positioning fashion as a platform for regional cultural exchange.

For Svida Alisjahbana, CEO of GCMedia Group and Chairman of Jakarta Fashion Week, the industry’s strength lies in the diversity of its creative voices. By bringing designers with different identities, inspirations and approaches together, JFW aims to expand opportunities for local talent while strengthening connections across the wider fashion ecosystem.

That ambition reaches beyond fashion itself. According to Creative Director Rd. Andandika Surasetja, cross-border and cross-sector collaborations can create new opportunities across retail, beauty, automotive, gastronomy and other creative industries, broadening fashion week’s cultural and commercial impact.

JFW 2027 is about shaping what it can become tomorrow. By connecting contemporary creativity with Southeast Asia’s rich cultural heritage, the platform seeks to nurture the next generation of designers, strengthen the industry’s commercial foundations and open new pathways for Indonesian fashion to reach wider audiences and compete on the global stage.
