Hermès Le temps Suspendu
At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, Hermès’ Le Temps Suspendu, making its first appearance in 2011, is now available in three captivating designs: Arceau Le Temps Suspendu, Maillon Libre, and Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu. Visual artist Sarah-Anaïs Desbenoit masterfully crafts a cinematic landscape that invites a profound sense of suspended time.

The installation unveils a dynamic landscape where images dance in and out of view, resurfacing in fresh forms. A continuous flow is created by artificial sunlight, transitioning between dawn and dusk, establishing a distinct rhythm that encourages time to slow. This ever-evolving installation retreats and transforms, embodying a beautiful fluidity.

Emerging architectural forms give rise to a unique lexicon. Roads lined with streetlights illuminate miniature buildings, and portholes unveil breathtaking views of the sea and city through the windows of cars, trains, and boats.

Hermès constructs architectural fragments that blur the lines between memory and imagination, intertwining what has been with what might be. These silhouettes evoke a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of theater sets, pavilions, and water towers. The scene resonates with acoustically layered echoes, from raindrops to traffic lights. This rich soundscape challenges our perception of interiority and exteriority, igniting contemplation about whether we are fleeting passengers catching glimpses through a window or sheltered observers reflecting on the world outside.

Sarah-Anaïs Desbenoit’s artistic journey focuses on exploring locations and their architectural details, particularly where time appears to stand still. She beautifully captures everyday scenes, like an empty apartment, a hotel hallway, or a train station at dawn. Her work illuminates the paradoxical memory of suspended time, revealing the sense of latency found in these transitional spaces.
