Shop with purpose – an act of humanity for earthquake victims in Nusa Tenggara Timur

22 Indonesian designers turn their creative capital into an act of humanity, transforming the white shirt into a gesture of solidarity for earthquake victims in Nusa Tenggara Timur.

Fashion can be more than a statement of style. It can become a statement of solidarity.

Following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Nusa Tenggara Timur, particularly Flores, on August 15, the Indonesian Fashion Designer Council (IFDC), together with Senayan City and Cotton USA, has turned creativity into tangible action through DRAFT IFDC Pop-Up Store Installation.

Launched on September 2 at Senayan City, DRAFT brings together 22 IFDC designers, each interpreting one of fashion’s most fundamental pieces—the white shirt or top. Priced from Rp1.2 million to Rp1.999 million, the limited-edition pieces translate each designer’s distinctive language through silhouette, construction and technique, using premium cotton from Cotton USA.

But DRAFT is ultimately about something beyond design: fashion with purpose

The designers turn their own creative capital into an act of humanity, with proceeds from the sales channelled through Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) to support communities affected by the NTT earthquake.

For younger IFDC member Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan, the initiative gives creative work a greater meaning: a way to add value to fashion while sharing with others. Senior couturier Eddy Betty echoes that sentiment, seeing participation as a responsibility to contribute through what he possesses and what he knows best—his craft.

The choice of white is equally deliberate. For designers, the white shirt represents an early and essential design vocabulary: a blank canvas from which individual identities emerge. In DRAFT, that canvas becomes collective. Twenty-two designers, twenty-two interpretations, one shared intention.

For Senayan City, the project also forms part of the 20th anniversary edition of Fashion Nation, celebrating Indonesia’s broader fashion ecosystem and demonstrating how fashion can be a platform for creativity, collaboration and meaningful contribution.

DRAFT makes a simple proposition: support creativity, buy fashion, and help someone in need.
