Before Milan Design Week unfolds, this is an early glimpse into the projects shaping the season—where design, atmosphere, and everyday rituals intersect.

In the 5VIE district, a door opens for the first time. For david/nicolas, the unveiling of La Boiserie also marks the first public opening of the studio’s Milan project space—an intimate setting where architecture, interiors, and material research converge.
Rather than a one-off installation, La Boiserie grows out of years of investigation into architectural surfaces and spatial expression. Conceived as a modular yet highly customizable system of panels, the project reflects the studio’s architectural language through recurring geometric motifs—introducing rhythm, depth, and a tactile richness that shifts the role of the wall from background to protagonist. Patterns repeat and evolve, materials catch light differently as one moves through the space, and walls begin to define atmosphere as much as structure. The system’s flexibility allows it to adapt to varied contexts, while its formal consistency anchors it firmly within the david/nicolas vocabulary.

As the installation unfolds, the project space becomes immersive rather than didactic. Details reveal themselves gradually, emphasizing the studio’s sensitivity to proportion, junctions, and material transitions. The experience feels architectural, but also domestic—suggesting how La Boiserie might live beyond the exhibition, integrated into interiors shaped by use and time.
With La Boiserie, david/nicolas positions material research as a form of storytelling.
The wall is no longer a neutral plane, but an active architectural element—one that frames space, guides movement, and carries the quiet intensity of crafted design.
