A Quiet Dialogue Between Architecture, Landscape, and Craft
Set amid the gentle hills of Sweden’s Ästad Vingård, Vinhuset marks the latest chapter in Norm Architects’ evolving vision for the estate. Following the acclaimed restaurant ÄNG and the lakeside retreat Sjöparken, this new wellness destination completes a trilogy of spaces where architecture, nature, and human experience are carefully aligned.

Conceived as Karimoku Case’s CASE 12, Vinhuset reflects the brand’s philosophy of designing furniture from spatial context. The former reception building of the vineyard has been transformed into a holistic wellness facility, housing a spa, reception, yoga and meditation areas, relaxation spaces, a bar, and a greenhouse. Subtly embedded into the surrounding terrain, the architecture balances a refined modern expression with an organic relationship to the landscape. Green roofs and natural gardens reinforce its role as a sustainable oasis, while design cues from ÄNG and Sjöparken establish a quiet continuity across the site.

Inside, each space unfolds with a distinct yet harmonious atmosphere. The reception area sets the tone with rich textures, dark natural hues, brick flooring, and solid timber elements, anchored by a long wooden counter that frames the surrounding landscape. On the first floor, a moody bar lounge invites guests to linger, where soft textiles and sheer curtains temper the strength of brick and wood, and expansive windows frame views of the lake and vineyards like living artworks.

Ascending to the upper levels, the mood shifts toward lightness and clarity. Spaces for yoga, meditation, and relaxation are defined by softer palettes and lighter materials, encouraging introspection and calm. The journey culminates on the rooftop terrace, where panoramic views over the vineyards reconnect guests with the rhythms of the land.

Karimoku Furniture produced nine bespoke pieces for the project, designed by Norm ArchitectsNorm Architects exclusively for Vinhuset, complementing the existing Karimoku Case collection. Together, they embody the brand’s core values: reverence for quiet beauty, material richness, and timeless design.

As a central hub within the Ästad Vingård experience, Vinhuset extends the narrative begun by ÄNG and Sjöparken, offering a space that gently dissolves the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and well-being.
