BUCCELLATI CAVIAR BAR AT PALAZZO GAVAZZI: WHERE ART DE LA TABLE BECOMES AN ATMOSPHERE

At Palazzo Gavazzi, designer Chahan Minassian turns Buccellati’s Caviar collection from an object of Art de la Table into an atmosphere—where silver, mirrors, velvet and Murano glass become a new language of Milanese luxury.

At Palazzo Gavazzi in Milan, Buccellati renews its collaboration with Paris-based designer Chahan Minassian, unveiling a new Caviar Bar within its historic flagship at Via Montenapoleone 23. Following Minassian’s transformation of the Piano Nobile in 2024, the new space continues the Maison’s evolving vision of hospitality, craftsmanship and the art of living.

Inspired by Buccellati’s emblematic Caviar collection, known for its signature micro-beaded motif and exceptional silversmithing, Minassian translates the collection’s visual language into an immersive interior. Rather than simply displaying the objects, the Caviar Bar turns their material vocabulary into a space designed for gathering, conversation and entertaining.

The setting unfolds across two levels within a dramatic double-height volume overlooking the courtyard. A gallery entrance recalls the ceremonial sequence of a nineteenth-century Milanese palazzo, while a glazed mezzanine creates a visual dialogue between the upper and lower levels. Lounge seating, bistro tables and a central bar balance intimacy with sociability.

Its defining gesture is above: vaulted surfaces are clad in bespoke mirrored panels in copper, silver and smoky grey. Reflecting and refracting light, they amplify the architecture while introducing a sophisticated theatricality. Silvery greys, taupe, bronze and golden reflections extend the palette of the Piano Nobile, subtly echoing Buccellati’s worlds of jewellery and silverware.

Against this reflective backdrop, Minassian introduces warmth through velvet, Fortuny fabrics, textured leather and custom rugs. Vintage Murano glass chandeliers sit alongside sculptural forms and bespoke furniture, creating a measured dialogue between Palazzo Gavazzi’s historic architecture and a contemporary design vocabulary. Every furnishing element has been custom designed by Minassian, reinforcing the space’s highly considered character.

“Maintaining a residential spirit was essential,” says Minassian. His intention was to create an interior that feels welcoming and lived-in while preserving the architectural grandeur of the palazzo.

The Caviar Bar is conceived less as a conventional luxury bar than as an elegant Milanese residence, where craftsmanship, culture and hospitality converge. Buccellati’s Art de la Table is no longer simply presented: the Caviar collection, alongside silverware developed with Ginori, the colourful Murano Collection, Furry Animals and other decorative pieces, becomes part of the experience itself.

At Palazzo Gavazzi, Minassian ultimately transforms Buccellati’s craftsmanship into something more than an object to admire. It becomes an atmosphere to inhabit—an intimate expression of Milanese luxury shaped by material, light, heritage and the art of living.
