Reimagining The Beauty of Aged Textiles and Texture Emerged as Patina’s Defining Language
At InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah, Biyan Wanaatmadja unveiled Patina, his Spring/Summer 2027 collection—a poetic exploration of beauty shaped by time, memory, and craftsmanship. The collection embraced the essence of patina itself: the richness, depth, and character that emerge through the passage of time.

The presentation opened with Indonesian model and longtime muse Mariana Renata, whose graceful presence immediately set the tone for a collection steeped in timeless elegance.

Anchoring the runway was the striking image of a giant tree, a powerful symbol of roots, resilience, and transformation. It embodied the spirit of the collection—an ode to growth, evolution, and the quiet beauty that deepens with age.

Drawing inspiration from moss-covered landscapes, antique tapestries, botanical motifs, and interpretations of Tibetan tiger patterns, Biyan transformed historical references into contemporary expressions. A sophisticated palette of moss and forest greens, pale celadon, Prussian blue, ecru, mocha, and earthy browns echoed the richness of nature and the romance of weathered textiles, lending the collection a contemplative and deeply evocative mood.

Texture emerged as Patina’s defining language. Silk twill, cotton, and linen were layered with sheer tulle, organza, subtle lamé accents, and intricate embellishments, creating an interplay of opacity and transparency, structure and softness. The result was a series of garments imbued with movement, luminosity, and tactile depth—reimagining the beauty of aged textiles through a distinctly modern lens.

Silhouettes embraced contemporary ease through elongated lines, dropped waists, peplum constructions, relaxed tailoring, and fluid layers. Designed to be mixed, layered, and interpreted individually, the pieces reflected a modern approach to dressing that values personal expression while maintaining BIYAN’s signature sophistication. Menswear expanded beyond traditional tailoring with relaxed proportions and unexpected metallic accents, while richly embellished accessories introduced an artisanal dimension that further underscored the collection’s emphasis on craftsmanship.

Patina felt like a deep reflection on Biyan’s own remarkable four-decade journey in fashion. Quietly poetic and masterfully executed, the collection celebrated the beauty of evolution—where texture carries memory, craftsmanship acquires character, and elegance becomes richer with time.
