Xilo Ice – The Elegance of Figured Maple

ALPI will be presenting new wood veneers at the Salone del Mobile and at the ALPI showroom during Design Week 2024. Working together with international and Italian designers, ALPI has yet again reinvented wood in fascinating new ways.

At Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone 16 – 21 April
Pavilion 24, Stand H6 – Rho Fairgrounds – Milan
ALPI Showroom, via Solferino 7 – Milan

Based on focused research into natural types of wood, the new ALPI collections introduce fresh concepts and novel aesthetic interpretations. Nature provided the departure point for the study of texture and pattern, resulting in new types of wood brimming with surface interest and enriched by unusual shades of colour. These products embody the skilful capacities that lead to beautiful and inventive wood surfaces at ALPI.

Inside a stand designed by Piero Lissoni composed of soft, undulating volumes and curved geometric shapes entirely covered with veneers from its range, ALPI will display products developed in collaboration with GamFratesi, Konstantin Grcic and Piero Lissoni. The stand was specifically conceived to showcase the versatility and design possibilities of ALPI wood.

The 2024 collections are introduced by a brand-new product rooted in meticulous study of natural wood, respect for the environment, and constant dialogue with designers. It is ALPI Xilo Ice Frisé, a veneer that reproduces the tightly curled wood grain of figured maple.

Presented by Galleria

ALPI Xilo Ice Frisé belongs to the North Light family of veneers, a new subgroup of the Xilo range. The strength of Xilo lies in the perfectly natural intensity of its balanced chromatic scale. Curated by Piero Lissoni, North Light features the reproduction of three types of wood: maple, silver fir and Scots pine. Veining can be straight or flamed. In addition, the maple is available in a figured grain.

Like all the new collections that will be presented during the Milan Design Week, North Light is produced using poplar wood from Italian tree farms, a sustainable raw material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® under license number FSC-C004666.

ALPI will also present new veneers belonging to the collection designed by Konstantin Grcic in 2023, and a wonderful series by GamFratesi made to simulate the grain of precious types of wood, dyed in sophisticated hues.
