December 3rd to 8th – MIAMI RIVER INN, 437 SW 2nd St, Miami, FL

The second edition of Alcova Miami will open to the public from December 3-8, during Miami Art Week 2024, running daily from 11 AM to 7 PM. After last year’s Miami successful debut, the international platform will this year move to the Miami River Inn, the city’s oldest hotel, located in the South River Drive Historic District of East Little Havana. One of the most followed events of Milan Design Week, Alcova has become a must-see destination on the international scene, showcasing works by designers, galleries, companies, institutions, and schools in dialogue with extraordinary architectural contexts.

Alcova Miami 2024 will be situated in the historic Miami River Inn, a cluster of pastel-colored mansions surrounded by lush, jungle-like vegetation built in 1908 as a Victorian boarding house. This unique environment will host a variety of site-specific installations, with each project interacting with the historic and natural elements of the venue. Visitors will be immersed in a captivating microcosm, where tradition meets innovation, inviting them to reflect on the future of design through exhibitions, performances, and shared moments of discovery.

As Miami prepares to embrace the energy of Art Week, Alcova reaffirms its position within the city’s creative landscape as a platform for those seeking to redefine the accepted boundaries of contemporary design. Internationally renowned as a platform in which future trends and new directions in design are first presented, Alcova complements Miami’s existing platforms with a bold and experimental selection of visionary designers.

Among the over 40 exhibitors presenting new work in this edition, a number of emerging talents will be showcased, including Panorammma (Mexico) with their domestic multidisciplinary explorations; Athens-based studio made by ASTRONAUTS, in collaboration with brand Serapis; Italian collective Parasite 2.0 x bianco67, a collaboration focused on reuse processes of marble and stone; and New York-based conceptual designer Jirah Joshua (Room—file), among others.

Site-specific installations will reinterpret the location within both its indoor and outdoor spaces: among them, a project by Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, created from objects sourced in the city and completely transformed to reactivate the large central plaza. Also featured is an installation designed for the pool by the Los Angeles-based collective AnanasAnanas, which is making a name in the world of food design with a bold and innovative language.

Alcova Miami 2024 will also feature the return of prominent designers whose contributions have shaped Alcova’s identity, such as Rich Aybar (RAWORKSHOP), Objects of Common Interest, LoopLoop, and Crafting Plastics!Studio.

In addition, there will be a rich program of talks, round table discussions, and events. The visual identity of the project, conceived and developed by Studio Vedet since its inception, has beenrenewed to guide visitors through the experience of this second edition.
