New Collaborations with Sofia Albrigo and Heim+Viladrich
For ABI, stone is more than a material—it carries memory, craftsmanship, and cultural continuity into contemporary form. Continuing its exploration of Egyptian stone through collectible design, the Cairo–Milan brand unveils new projects at Salone Raritas, Salone del Mobile.Milano’s new platform dedicated to collectible and limited-edition design during Milan Design Week 2026, including collaborations with Sofia Albrigo and Heim+Viladrich.

Born from the collaboration between Egyptian marble and granite producer Marmonil Marble & Granite, Milan-based creative direction studio NM3, and strategic contributions from P:S, Brun Fine Art, Simone Becchio, and OZ SRL, ABI has cultivated a distinct design language rooted in material culture. At Salone Raritas, the brand presents an evolving constellation of works that reflects its growing identity, introducing new pieces by NM3 alongside a dialogue between continuity and experimentation expressed through Egyptian red and black granite, alabaster, quartz, and limestone. Echoes of ancient Egyptian geometries subtly emerge throughout the collection, reinterpreted through restraint and a contemporary design language that feels both refined and quietly monumental.
Among the newly unveiled works are sculptural pieces by NM3, including stools carved from red and black granite, a dining table in black Aswan granite, and an alabaster coffee table. Monumental yet refined, the collection continues ABI’s exploration of stone as both architectural presence and functional object, translating permanence into silhouettes suited to contemporary interiors.

A contrasting yet complementary perspective emerges through Tight Spot, the new collection by Heim+Viladrich. Developed entirely in Sinai limestone, the series includes an ashtray, chest, low table, and seat, each shaped through subtle concave and convex gestures that soften otherwise rigorous geometric forms. Functional yet sculptural, the pieces propose a gentler dialogue with stone—one rooted in material honesty and measured intervention.

Meanwhile, Sofia Albrigo’s contribution shifts the conversation toward a more intimate scale. Inspired by dynastic Egyptian stone vessels historically conceived as objects of permanence, the architect and educator revisits rounded forms, elongated rims, and precise profiles through a contemporary lens informed in part by alchemical laboratory tools. Her series of small objects—including Cup, Vase 26, Plat 20, Plat 40, Tray 60, Vase 60, and Vase 90—balances archaeology with experimentation, crafted in black granite, quartz, and limestone.

Together, these new works reinforce ABI’s evolving vision of collectible design, where ancient materials, local craftsmanship, and contemporary sensibilities converge. More than a presentation of new products, Salone Raritas becomes a setting where the brand’s dialogue between heritage and modern living comes most clearly into focus.
