Compassion for the Natural World

Salvatori  is pleased to launch its latest accessories collection, Precioso, designed in collaboration with celebrated American designer Stephen Burks. Drawing from a deep admiration for the natural world and the things that we hold dear to our hearts, the collection consists of a stone vase and photo frame, providing a place to hold our most treasured objects and memories.

The Precioso Collection builds upon the themes found in Stephen Burks’ first collaboration with the brand in 2021, the Friends and Neighbors mirrors, which exemplify the same commitment to sustainability and care for one’s neighbor. Like the previous collaboration, the objects in the new Precioso Collection are crafted from a vivid palette of richlycolored natural stones, including Verde Guatemala green, Giallo Siena yellow, and Rosso Francia red, juxtaposed to the classic Bianco Carrara and Nero Marquinia and sourced from production offcuts. With a deep respect for the precious material of stone, the brand has long championed innovation when it comes to sustainable design and is committed to promoting processes and products that reduce waste to a minimum.

“The name Precioso comes from thinking about the people and things that we hold dear to our hearts, the idea of caring and cherishing our loved ones. It’s also about slowing down. We live in a world that moves so quickly that we often don’t have time to grasp the true wonder of the natural world that surrounds us. And, of course, stone is part of that. It’s the foundation of the Earth itself, and therefore absolutely precious. The photo frame is where we keep images of our loved ones, while the vase represents our love of nature,” explains Stephen Burks.

With Precioso, Salvatori introduces a fluid language to their brand –  one that embraces diversity and individuality as reflected in the patchwork of stones, each with their own unique and naturally occurring veining and colors, that come together harmoniously to create these beautiful pieces.

“I’m thrilled to once again work with Salvatori  on a project that puts the spotlight on diversity and showcases its direct connection to sustainability, as well as its inherent beauty through the incredible colour palette provided by natural stone,” add Stephen Burks.

The Precioso Vase is made up of four rectangles of differing heights, combined to form an elegant play on geometry, with a glass cylinder placed inside. The frame, which can be used in portrait or landscape format, is a patchwork of long slim rectangles in different stones that are sure to compliment any photograph.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Stephen Burks again, a designer with whom we share many common values, especially as it pertains to sustainability. Together, we’ve sought to restore dignity to every single fragment of raw material. While stone is an exceptionally long-lasting material, potentially eternal, it is also finite, so we work to create designs that are as timeless as the material, that can accompany us throughout our life and be handed down to future generations,” says CEO Gabriele Salvatori.
