An Architectural Rhythm in Stone and Metal

There is something familiar about an arch. In architecture, it can frame a passage, create rhythm across a façade, or guide the eye from one space to another. In Arcate, LITHEA and glàuco studio bring that architectural language into the home, turning the arch into the defining character of a coffee table collection.

Rather than using the form simply as decoration, Arcate builds its identity through a sequence of repeated arches, creating a continuous rhythm reminiscent of historic porticos, where one opening leads naturally to the next. The structure balances solidity with lightness, with stone lending a sense of permanence while the open arches allow light and space to remain part of the composition. Integrated into each arch, a metallic insert reinforces the structure from within while adding a contrasting material note—the cool, polished surface of metal against the organic texture of stone—making this structural detail an integral part of Arcate’s visual identity.

The choice of stone adds another dimension to this material dialogue. Arcate is available in Travertino and Nero Portoro, each bringing a distinct expression to the collection. Travertine lends a warmer, more organic character through its natural texture, while Nero Portoro offers a deeper, more dramatic presence with its distinctive veining. Together with the metal detailing, the two materials create a tactile interplay of surfaces that brings the craftsmanship of the piece into focus.

Measuring 800 × 800 mm and 403 mm high, Arcate is proportioned for the home while retaining the presence of a sculptural object. Its repeated arches establish a visual cadence, giving the coffee table a sense of depth and openness rather than making it feel like a conventional functional surface.

For glàuco studio, the arch becomes more than an architectural reference—it organizes the object through a play of solid and void, weight and openness. Rather than reproducing a building in miniature, Arcate translates that architectural sensibility into furniture, balancing a sculptural silhouette with a restrained material palette. As part of LITHEA’s New Collection 2026, it turns a familiar motif into an intimate piece for the home, bringing the quiet rhythm of an arcade into the everyday.
