On the Many Sides of Being

What does it mean to be an artist? In AM I AN ARTIST, Abell Octovan plays with the question through a solo exhibition that looks at the dual nature of things—how two seemingly opposite traits can exist at once.

Abell Octovan

Rather than choosing between one side or the other, Abell invites us to sit with the contradictions. Strength can meet vulnerability, certainty can come with doubt, and identity can shift depending on how we choose to see it.

Opening on Friday, 18 September 2026, at JP LIVE SPACE, The Jakarta Post Building, the exhibition is hosted by Windi Salomo, Jay Subyakto, and Deasy Sutanto. AM I AN ARTIST will then be open to the public from 19 September to 5 October, 10:00–19:00, except Mondays.

The exhibition is supported by ASAJIVA, DCREPES, EAST INDIES, and LA PIÑA, with The Jakarta Post, CLARA, LUXINA, Sugar & Cream, and THE F. PEOPLE as media partners.

More than a question about art, AM I AN ARTIST offers a closer look at the many sides of being human.
