The Art of Fusion Meets the Art of Transformation

Some objects invite a second look. Others change the way we see the familiar. For Hublot and Jeff Koons, that shared instinct becomes the starting point of a new collaboration—one built on transforming tension into form, contradiction into harmony, and excess into precision.

Jeff Koons

The Swiss luxury watchmaker has announced world-renowned artist Jeff Koons as its newest Hublot Ambassador, bringing together two names whose breakthrough moments can be traced to 1980. That year, Hublot disrupted watchmaking with a gold case on a rubber strap, while Koons began redefining contemporary art. More than four decades later, both continue to challenge convention by turning familiar ideas into something unexpected.

Koons has transformed everyday objects into cultural icons through scale, material, craftsmanship, and meticulous execution. Balloon Dog, Rabbit, and Puppy may appear playful at first glance, yet their apparent simplicity conceals extraordinary complexity. Since 2011, Hublot has similarly explored the meeting point between art, design, and watchmaking through collaborations with artists across disciplines. With Koons, that shared philosophy finds a natural counterpart.

“Hublot and I have always shared fascination for the material sciences. As an artist, I always want to be able to try to transcend an object, a material, into having the viewer be able to find more meaning in the finished work than just its individual parts, Hublot uses all the technology of making master timepieces, and also uses the material sciences to transcend the object into representing something that all of us can find even more relevance and meaning. Hublot is a manufacture of depth, where materials are reinvented, movements refined and design reengineered with purpose,” stated Jeff Koons.

That shared fascination with materials also lies at the heart of Hublot’s watchmaking. Through proprietary materials, in-house movements, technical innovation, and considered design, the brand turns engineering into an emotional experience. Its Art of Fusion began with the pioneering gold-and-rubber watch of 1980 and evolved with the Big Bang in 2005, whose bold proportions and layered construction earned Hublot the Best Design award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève that same year. Today, the philosophy continues across the Big Bang, Classic Fusion, and Exceptional Timepieces, as well as the brand’s Unico, Meca-10, and tourbillon in-house calibres.

“We are proud to collaborate with Jeff Koons. Few artists have transformed contemporary culture, turning everyday objects into global icons through scale, precision and uncompromising execution, in the way that Jeff Koons has done. This partnership reflects exactly where Hublot stands today: substance. It is great to share with Jeff what Hublot has always thrived on: tension between tradition and disruption, mechanics and emotion, innovation and craftsmanship, revealing that beneath the boldness lies extraordinary discipline; beneath the surface lies mastery,” stated Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot.

For Koons, however, precision is never simply visual. Beneath the mirror-polished surfaces and recognizable forms lies an interest in feeling, sensation, shared history, and human experience. Themes of self-acceptance, empowerment, and transcendence give his work a resonance beyond the objects themselves—much like Hublot’s belief that the Art of Fusion extends beyond materials.

That idea of fusion also reaches beyond La Manufacture into Hublot’s wider universe, spanning football, music, basketball, artistic performances, and gastronomy, where shared experiences bring its community of Hublotistas together. In 2026, its commitment to technical excellence is further reflected in an evolved warranty structure for eligible timepieces purchased from January 1, offering a five-year basic warranty with the possibility of extending coverage to up to ten years through the Hublotista program.

The meeting between Hublot and Jeff Koons ultimately brings two distinct disciplines into the same conversation. Both understand that what appears effortless often demands extraordinary discipline, and that beneath a bold surface lies a deeper process of material exploration, craftsmanship, and precision. Here, the Art of Fusion takes on a new dimension—one where icons are given volume through meaning and emotion as much as form.
