An Expression of Harmony and Comfort
At a time when contemporary living increasingly embraces calm, tactility, and emotional comfort, Japanese furniture maker Nagano Interior offers a quieter perspective on the meaning of home. Rooted in the philosophy of Wa—a principle centered on harmony and balance—the brand approaches furniture as an extension of everyday life, shaped through craftsmanship, natural materials, and enduring design. Presented at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Nagano Interior continues this philosophy through a collection that deepens its dialogue between materiality and comfort, pairing carefully crafted solid wood with tactile textiles and thoughtful details in a quietly refined vision of contemporary living.

This year’s presentation introduces a renewed visual language that feels understated yet quietly expressive. At the heart of the collection is a dialogue between light wooden structures and generously upholstered forms, balancing structural clarity with softness and ease—an aesthetic that gently reflects the brand’s enduring commitment to harmony.

Aeris
A notable evolution can be found in the treatment of materials and finishes. Kusu wood, or camphor wood—valued for its rich grain and naturally aromatic character—appears in two new finishes that subtly reshape its visual identity. Kuromon (Black Gate) introduces a deep, quietly dramatic black, while Oborozuki (Misty Moon) offers a softer luminosity inspired by moonlight filtered through evening fog. Alongside this material exploration, Nagano Interior introduces Kokura-Ori, a traditional Japanese cotton textile distinguished by its dense weave and subtle striped texture. The fabric finds expression in the reimagined Coupé stool, where a black frame and contrasting upholstery lend one of the brand’s most recognizable pieces a more refined, quietly sophisticated character.

Beyond material exploration, the presentation also introduces new furniture pieces that reflect the brand’s evolving understanding of comfort and spatial living. Designed by Giovanni Levanti, the Castello bookcase brings an architectural dimension into the home through a modular system of foldable oak elements that can be stacked, mirrored, or arranged freely within a space. Whether positioned against a wall or placed at the center of a room, Castello moves beyond storage to become a flexible element that naturally adapts to contemporary ways of living.

Cocoon
The theme of comfort continues through two new seating designs: the Aeris armchair and Cocoon sofa, both exploring the balance between structural lightness and softness. With its generously padded seat and leather-covered armrests, Aeris adapts naturally to different postures while offering thoughtful everyday functionality, including armrests designed to hook onto a tabletop for easier maintenance. Cocoon, meanwhile, embraces a softer sensibility, pairing slim wooden structures with enveloping upholstered volumes that invite moments of pause and relaxation. Finished in denim-toned Kokura-Ori fabric, the sofa reinforces a tactile sense of warmth and calm.

Coupé kusu
More than introducing new pieces, Nagano Interior’s presentation reflects a broader philosophy of living—one shaped by craftsmanship, emotional comfort, and a quiet sensitivity to materials. In a fast-moving world, the collection serves as a gentle reminder that the most enduring forms of design are often experienced through the quiet rituals of everyday life.
