Sebastian Gunawan and Cristina Panarese Reimagine the Glamour of the Jazz Age

At the Sebastian Gunawan Signature Annual Fashion Show 2026 held at Hotel Mulia Senayan on July 7, 2026, Sebastian Gunawan and Cristina Panarese unveiled Jazz & Jasper, a couture collection that revisits the liberating spirit of the 1920s through a contemporary lens. Rather than recreating the Roaring Twenties as period costume, the duo distilled its enduring elegance into modern eveningwear defined by fluidity, movement, and refined craftsmanship.

Inspired by a jazz performance in Paris, the collection reflects the era’s newfound sense of freedom, when women embraced more liberated silhouettes and self-expression. Jazz embodies the vibrant energy and cultural dynamism of the decade, while Jasper—referencing the ornamental stone and the geometric elegance of Art Deco—evokes timeless strength and sophistication.

The collection marks a subtle evolution of Sebastian Gunawan’s couture language. Structured tailoring is softened by looser, more relaxed silhouettes, while signature details including fringe, dropped waists, tulip skirts, cocoon shapes, and sheer layering evoke the rhythm of jazz with graceful movement. Rich embellishments, exclusive motifs, Art Nouveau-inspired detailing, lace patchwork, feather-like yarn textures, and a jewel-toned palette of gold, silver, bronze, deep red, and blue reaffirm the house’s mastery of couture craftsmanship.

Balancing nostalgia with modernity, Jazz & Jasper offers a sophisticated interpretation of Jazz Age glamour without veering into theatrical costume. Its lighter construction and elegant fluidity signal a refreshing evolution of the Sebastian Gunawan signature, introducing a more contemporary and effortless approach.
