Sculptural Material Dialogue

A shift in direction often reveals the most honest layer of a designer’s voice. For Turkish-based Studio Lugo, that shift takes shape in Resonance—a new body of work debuting at Alcova Milan 2026, where polished precision gives way to a more instinctive, sculptural language.

Set within Alcova’s newest site inside the former Baggio Hospital, the collection unfolds in a space that feels raw, unfinished, and quietly charged with history. Rather than simply housing the pieces, the setting becomes part of the narrative, mirroring the collection’s openness and its refusal to conceal process.

Candleabra

At the core of Resonance is a dialogue between material and method. Fire, technical metalworking, and fine hand-tailoring converge into a cohesive yet deliberately imperfect series. Laminated metal surfaces are left exposed, their edges softly blooming—almost fragile in appearance despite their structural weight. This tension defines the collection: strength held in a moment of vulnerability.

Here, construction is not hidden but emphasized. Each piece carries visible traces of its making—subtle irregularities, gestures of the hand, and intentional imperfections that ensure no two works are exactly alike. The result feels less manufactured and more discovered, as if shaped through an ongoing conversation between material and maker.

Club Chair Writing Desk

The collection spans both functional and sculptural forms, including the Totem v.II Shelving Unit, Writing Desk, Club Chair, Pendant Lighting, Screen, Candelabra,Side Table, and Nightstand (Memory in Matter). Produced in limited quantities, each piece stands as a singular expression within a unified design language.

Memory in Matter

In Resonance, Studio Lugo moves beyond refinement as an end goal, embracing instead the beauty of process—where material honesty, experimentation, and quiet imperfection come into balance.
