Renowned for its pioneering approach to reconstituted wood, ALPI continues to position veneer as a medium for experimentation and design research.

At Salone del Mobile.Milano and FuoriSalone 2026, the brand unveils Aurora Purple—a new veneer developed in collaboration with Yabu Pushelberg, presented at S.Project in Rho Fiera and extended into an immersive showroom setting in Brera.
Over the years, ALPI has engaged a diverse range of designers—from Ettore Sottsass to Piero Lissoni—forming an ongoing dialogue that expands the expressive language of wood beyond a sequence of collections.

“It is so interesting to work with designers who introduce us to a new way of seeing our material. With Piero Lissoni, wood contains memory and research, which leads to the rebirth of lost species and the construction of new rhythms and compositions. With Yabu Pushelberg, veneer ventures beyond its confines to turn into a landscape, an imaginary space,” says Vittorio Alpi.
With Yabu Pushelberg, this exploration shifts into a more atmospheric dimension. Aurora Purple unfolds through a nuanced chromatic spectrum of deep violet, blue, and petrol green, layered in soft gradients that move across the surface like shifting light. The grain appears to expand and contract, alternating between dense, shadowed areas and more luminous passages that subtly shimmer from different angles—balancing precision with a dreamlike sense of transformation.

The project extends into space at the ALPI showroom on Via Solferino, where material and architecture come into dialogue. Set against the restrained clarity of Piero Lissoni’s designs, Yabu Pushelberg’s intervention introduces a softer, more evocative presence. Totemic vertical elements—suggestive of animal silhouettes, poised between figuration and abstraction—imbue the space with a quiet, almost ritualistic atmosphere shaped by light, color, and depth.
This interplay between the rational and the expressive ultimately frames wood as both a precise design element and a sensorial experience—a reflection of ALPI’s ongoing commitment to innovation through material, craft, and imagination.
